Just curious. Last I heard it was sometime in the fall, maybe late summer. Is Marcin on here to maybe shed some light on this? Ultra-excited for these guys. I've alredy got my plans for a super-sized FPGA set-up using 4" square bases…

Don't think I've heard of these. What scale?

3mm I think?

I did a measurement of them awhile back. They are exactly 4mm to the top of the head. Bayonets are a bit higher. I don't know if that works out to 1/600 or not. The other thing is, the ACW figs are in rather loose order on the strips, so that the highest figure representation you can acheive is 2:1. Still pretty high. It lets you get a real "line" effect, especially when you have a big enough table top. Making terrain at that ground scale is really, really hard though. I could never quite get it down even after months of work. As such I'm thinking about doing the naps on brigade sized bases. You should give them a try though- if you want to talk about "mass effect" these blow 6mm out fo the water. 1200 figs for 40 dollars. But like I said, the way you base them up is really key. If you just put two rows of figs on a 60mm x 20mm base it doesn't really look all that great. I'm about to rebase the ACW stuff on 3 60mm x 40mm.. That way you can get the file clsoers, NCOs and mounted officers onto the infantry regiment bases.

But that being said, yeah, Napoleonics are supposed to be coming out soon. That'll be a real time. Those are going to be 10 figs per 20mm strip, so you could get 3:2 figure ratio. That's going to be something to see. You could even have proper columns at that scale, with distance between companies and everything. Not to mention what a grand battery would look like, or a whole division of heavy cav with several thousand figs in it…

Ok- good news for all the megalomaniacs out there. Marcin posted on the 3mm yahoo group that the tentative release date for the Napoleonic 4mm figs is September or October "if all goes well." So big projects are right around the corner.
