Just played my first games of Infinity this weekend. Two smallish fights on a simple industrial board, 2' x 4'. Both were Nomads v. Yu Jing. The first was one Heavy and 4 lights on each side, coming down to the LTs fighting each other – we didn't bother with Retreat!, as
well, we were learning, and having too much fun. Okay, I was having too much fun hunting down the last Zanshi and Invincible with my Mobile Brigada, and setting them on fire.
Second game was brave, plucky Nomads v. evil StateEmpire again. Yu Jing had two Invincibles, a handful of Zanshis and a
something medium-ish, with a sniper rifle. The Nomads had a Rev. Moira, Sin Eater, Hellcat w/HMG and a handful of Moderators. I dropped in my Hellcat behind the enemy forces on turn 2, and the StateEmpire over-reacted, turning almost all of his troops to face the new threat – whereupon a Moderator dove from one cover to another, ripping off a burst from his Combi Rifle that killed – killed! – one of the Invincibles from behind. The Sniper never got a hit, but there were so many bloody exchanges of fire that we ended up with nothing left but the two LTs again, who decided due to issues of time that discretion was the better part of valor.
Amazingly fun game, lots of tactical options even with the most basic rules, the ARO mechanism makes any exposure to fire tense.
My oldest kid will be building a Combined Army force, while I'm going for Yu Jing.
(Sorry, no pics, we jumped right in as we got there, and were having too much fun to remember to take them!)
