Hi all,

Might anyone recommend books, websites or other source of info that would help in wargaming the smaller European battles of the period, esp. the WSS, WAS or SYW? Esp. those that provide maps and OoBs?

By smaller actions I mean those that involved fewer than 20 units (or, say, roughly 10,000 men) per side?

Cheers in advance for any help!

There are some small SYW battles at Kronoskaf

kronoskaf.com

In particular, look for Mehr or Sandershausen (sp?)

Cheers, Ed.

I should add that small fictional C18th scenarios would also be very useful, if someone has come up with a book of such things.

Multiple books of those. Basically, find any of CS Grant's scenario books, or those by Stuart Asquith:

Grant, C.S.WARGAME SCENARIOS
Grant, C.S.WARGAME CAMPAIGNS
Grant, C.S. and Asquith, Stuart SCENARIOS FOR ALL AGES
Grant, Charles and Olley, Phil ANNEXATION OF CHIRAZ, THE
Grant, Charles and Olley, S. RAID ON ST MICHEL:Five Table Top Teasers
Grant, Charles S THE WOLFENBUTTEL WAR
Grant, C.S. PROGRAMMED SCENARIOS

Go to original sources, memoirs and general staff histories. There are dozens and dozens of small actions. T

If you can get them the following two might be of value;

1756 The War in Bohemia. The Journal of Horace St Paul.
translated and edited by Neil Cogswell, pub by Gralene Books 1996

1757 Reichenberg and Malleschitz. The Journal of Horace St Paul. translated and edited by Neil Cogswell

Might I suggest all of the AWI and FIW?
