Apologies for bringing up this topic again, but what is the current fashionable rule set for 28mm Vietnam period? thanks and sorry for raking up old ground |

Fashionable? No idea. Charlie Company is good for patrol actions. Then there's Peter Pig's "Men of Company B", which I've heard good things about but haven't actually read. It's technically for 15mm (because that's what PP sells), but I see no real reason why it couldn't be played with 28mm figures. |

I personally use Arc of Fire for Vietnam actions. It's one of the better tactical rulesets out there IMO. It does a good job with both infantry and armor, so you can go either way (ie armor or infantry heavy fights). I personally use 20mm and 10mm for Vietnam. 20mm for my infantry heavy fights and 10mm for my armor heavy fights. 28mm is just too big for the battles I want to play (ie company to battalion (-)). However AoF should suffice for 28mm. |

I played Charlie Company at a con. It moved pretty well but I disagreed with some of the effects of artillery. |

Arc of Fire is a really good set of rules for Vietnam! I've been involved in a good many games at Cons, and they play exceptionally well for the period. Plus the Skirmish Campaigns Hamburger Hill scenario book by Mark Fastoso is a great way to enter into playing the period. The games are well researched and balanced, and are just plain fun. |

There have been several articles in The Courier about adapting Battleground for Vietnam. I've played in the games and they are a lot of fun. |

We have played several games of the new Battleground Vietnam (BGV) game. It runs similar to the original BattlegroundWWII with some obvious changes. These reflect the type of actions/weapons most commonly found in SE Asia during that period. You will have to wait for an official release. I would like to say "SOON", however I will refrain and say that I really enjoy playing with them. |

I am going to get Wild Fire rules myself as they seem to cover all the genres I am collecting (Vietnam - Falklands - Somalia - Gulf and Iraq War) and having one set of rules is a bonus. Leaves more time painting rather than learning loads of new rules ;o) Bob |

Modern Face of Battle for true skirmish actions. For slightly larger actions (i.e. squad or section level) use modified Stargrunt II rules for best results. |

I just did a search for this topic and found the last thread is from 10 years ago. I trust there have been some additional titles in the intervening decade so I wonder if I could canvas the group for their opinions. I am trying to catalogue the ground combat wargames set in Vietnam here: link and finding many of them are in fact miniatures rules. I'd be curious to know how the older rules sets compare to the more recent ones, and what the relative merits are. |

Force on Force covers Vietnam. I can't give a comparison since I have not seen any of the others. |
