spegtacularrr!

Footslogger13 Aug 2012 1:59 a.m. PST

Enjoyed!

Love that tiger skin.

When they look that good, does it matter that they don't know how to rally after the initial charge?

14th Brooklyn13 Aug 2012 2:07 a.m. PST

Thank you guys!

@ Footslogger: How did they put it in the movie Waterloo… "The best cavalry of Europe, led by the worst commanders". But they sure look splendid! wink

Nice! Very very nice, you've done a bang on job with those! Great brushwork and a base that ties it all together nicely!

Thanks again guys!

They turned out great. I have been following the WIP posts. I was wondering, from start to finish, how many hours did you spend on this set?

Thanks for all the WIPs posts. I too really like the tiger skin.

Thank you Matthew. Time spend is hard to tell. I usually have some DVD's running in the background. I think I had roughly the second season of Stargate on while paiting these. Which would be 22 episodes at around 40 Minutes or ~15 hours. Add maybe another hour when I painted without entertainment and another three for cleaning them up, conversion and basing. So all in all about 19 to 20 hours.

Cheers,

Burkhard

That is roughly 5 hours a figure. That is a good pace. I have never been able to paint while watching something on the tv, I get too distracted. Music I can do.

And how was the scuba trip to the red sea you posted about on your blog? When I was over seas I never had the time or dive partner to dive the red sea. It's on my bucket list, but things need to calm down around there before I will go.

Thanks again guys!

@Matthew: the trip by itself was good. The diving was not the best. I was my thrid trip to Egypt (every time to the same region). The hotel we went to last December was reputed to have the best reef in the ElQuesir region. Unfortunately it was not. You could see a lot of damage to the reef within the radiusmofmthe average diver. As a result there was also less fish. Both my better half and I have a good airconsumption so part of our divers were without that region, but still we spend most ofmour dives there. We also got the tip that there were some coral blocks in the centre of the bay that most divers did not go to since it was close to the shiping lane out of the marina which was fine as well. But that was it. Due to heavier seas they only offered on boat trip during out trip. Bottom line… It was good, but not above average.
The political situation did not look as bad back then, but they way it has turned out over the last weeks we will most likely skip Egypt over the next years as well.

I am keeping this a bit on the surface. If youmhave any detailed questions, just eMail me!

Enjoyed seeing all the WIP's to the finished product, which turned out great.

Only bringing this up since I have seen the Waterloo movie more than any normal human being should.
"They are the noblest cavalry in Europe, and the worst led."

It's fantastic. Does the Earl's leg detach by any chance?

14th Brooklyn16 Aug 2012 2:58 p.m. PST

It does not, but I have the smae mini once more and two Wellingtons as well, so I might one day do a diorama where he has just lost his leg.

Widowson22 Aug 2012 11:56 a.m. PST

just a thought – shouldn't these fellows be wearing white gloves?

Very outstanding figures in any case. Beautiful.
