My favorite is womens' beach volleyball (for obvious reasons).

Caesar11 Aug 2012 7:26 p.m. PST

Ditto.

The G Dog Fezian11 Aug 2012 7:49 p.m. PST

Skeet shooting. Both genders.

tigrifsgt11 Aug 2012 7:58 p.m. PST

A third for womens beach volleyball.

Baggy Sausage11 Aug 2012 8:25 p.m. PST

The one that the commentators are not talking too much.

The part right after the Closing Ceremony.

Did not realize they were playing a sport! But I'm with the majority on this one!

BigJoeDuke11 Aug 2012 9:00 p.m. PST

Winter, I second Terrement, Curling al the way. Summer, Javelin.

During Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympics there was a stretch of rocky beach between the Olymopic Village and downtown. Even before the Olympics the beach was full of hand made little "inukshuk's", balanced pile of rocks (the full sized versions were used by the Inuit in the far north as landmarks) dotting the beach. During the Olympics the number of inukshuks on the beach exploded as tourists, locals and atheletes built thier own and it became a popular attraction. No nationalistic jingoism, no corporate sponsorhip, no medals, no goverment spin, no money spent, no elitist BS… my favourite Olympic moment!

Syncronized pole dancing.

As far as what I saw, I got the most entertainment out of the BMX bike racing. Announcers shut up, no profiles, cool to watch.

Karpathian11 Aug 2012 10:16 p.m. PST

100 metres sprint.

Usain Bolt is pure drama.

As the Karpathian team* again failed to win a single medal, I consoled myself with this:

* one reason being male & female moustache growing is not yet a recognised Olympic sport!

Winter-Hockey.
Summer-Water polo or volleyball.

ochoin deach11 Aug 2012 11:50 p.m. PST

Almost anything Olympic is good.

Athletics are my favourite.

Huscarle12 Aug 2012 1:36 a.m. PST

Triathlon or Womens Beach Volleyball…

britishlinescarlet212 Aug 2012 4:00 a.m. PST

I'm a convert to the dancing horses.

The footie at SJP, because I got to see most of the matches live.
Fantastic party atmos!

As far as the televised stuff goes, I happily watched whatever they put in front of me. It was all good.

Khazarmac12 Aug 2012 5:34 a.m. PST

I enjoyed the archery, as it was more akin to much of the target shooting I do. I don't shoot shotguns, and shoot air pistol poorly, but the archery was very similar to the standing Gallery Rifle shooting I do. Similar skills needed, and similar principles.

Martin Rapier12 Aug 2012 5:38 a.m. PST

Hard to choose any particular one. Always enjoy the cycling, gymastics and running, with a greater preference for distance running.

For the multi-events, triathlon and heptathlon. The modern pentathlon is also interesting, the 'James Bond' sport, unsurprisingly won by an army officer this year.

AndrewGPaul12 Aug 2012 5:43 a.m. PST

My favorite is womens' beach volleyball (for obvious reasons).

Nah, the U.S. womens' 4x100m team were much easier on the eye.

The one I've found most exciting was the mens' 1,500m final. I was on the edge of my seat for the last couple of laps there.

Fat Wally12 Aug 2012 6:47 a.m. PST

Track cycling and rowing.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER12 Aug 2012 7:05 a.m. PST

No medals for Nova Caledonia or Bongolesia again!

The Gray Ghost12 Aug 2012 7:08 a.m. PST

I watched the soccer, mens and womens, and I also watched some of the rowing, being an avid rowing machine rower.

Howler12 Aug 2012 10:19 a.m. PST

Soccer. Women's game when USA played Canada and Japan were incredibly fun to watch. Next is that 10m platform diving and synchronized diving. Thought Men's basketball would catch my eye but the games I watched were boring although I did miss USA vs Spain for gold medal.

religon12 Aug 2012 10:20 a.m. PST

Women's Soccer (Football)

I have marginal interest in the Summer Olympics. It is so hard to find time to watch TV this time of year.

My daughter's roped me in as they play, and I enjoyed the little I listened to on the radio.

ancientsgamer12 Aug 2012 10:35 a.m. PST

I watched everything I could. Some of the lesser known sports are quite dynamic. Badminton is usually a favorite of mine, as far as obscure sports, but was ruined with the group play rules and teams deliberately losing to get a better position (and consequently being thrown out all together!). I happen to love watching Table Tennis but didn't see any this year as I mainly watched the NBC broadcasts and forgot to record the alternative stuff on the cable channels.

Kayaking was interesting this year with a very tough artificial course laid out for the competitors. I love watching women's basketball because it harkens back to the days when you didn't have dunking and team play and shooting were the king of the sport.

The Decathlon was amazing! Gold and Silver for the U.S. from two amazing competitors. While we didn't have the drama of the Bruce Jenner performance, this really blew that moment out of the water IMO.

There is something for everyone in the Olympics IMO. If you don't care for sports, I understand but I do believe there is at lest one event you can find enjoyment in.

Gennorm12 Aug 2012 12:33 p.m. PST

Anything involving a bike or a boat….or Jess Ennis.

14Bore12 Aug 2012 1:28 p.m. PST

Caught the Bulgarian gymnastic squad, they were nice

ochoin deach12 Aug 2012 1:50 p.m. PST

Athletics is the Scottish term for T&F. Sorry for the confusion.

TheMasterworkGuild12 Aug 2012 4:52 p.m. PST

Obviously ones own sport is good to catch up on, therefore tried to catch as much Fencing – Sabre as I could, which was surprisingly difficult even in the UK. I also enjoyed the women's football (soccer). Big fan of Hope Solo. (seeing as she has a great name too!)

TMPWargamerabbit13 Aug 2012 8:58 a.m. PST

Shot putt heave. For that "final volley" before the crowd runs you over.

Otherwise, when someone from a small country wins…. not the major nation states.

richarDISNEY13 Aug 2012 9:03 a.m. PST

I really enjoyed archery and pole vaulting this year.
BUT…
The real eye opener was the cross country equestrian eventing/jumping in that beautiful park!!!
Outstanding!

Velodrome, Team pursuit especially.

Fencing. But I don't actually watch any of it….

Women's beach volleyball is my favorite Olympic sport.

For the winter games, I like to watch short-track speed skating the most.
