"Martyred Roman soldier, patron of warriors, cross of St. Louis, knight in armor, defender of the faith, St. Napoleon also performs all miracles: he ascends to heaven from the grave and revived.
It has, besides its religious images, churches, statues, prayers, streets and squares, and even Masonic lodges place themselves under his protection.
The book presents three periods, the creation of the Saint-Napoleon in 1803 to 1815 and from 1815 to 1840 and finally, from 1840 to 1870, different forms of worship and homage rendered to the memory the Emperor on the occasion of his birthday.
The history and the hesitations of its inception in 1806 are extensively developed and supplemented by extensive information on the image makers and engravers as well as the dissemination of images throughout France.
The division into three periods for the first time presents an analysis of the evolution of representations of a cult, a party and, finally, an official renaissance."

Why only a saint? Some historians write about Napoloen as if he was the 2nd coming of Christ!

That's silly, Jesus isn't even close – never commanded an army on the field of battle. Of the religious prophets, Muhammad would be a better comparison, since he actually had a military career, but still not close to Napoleon.
