Plastic Soldier here.

More Friday afternoon musings – what four new 1/72nd vehicles would you like to see from Plastic Soldier Company? Excluding Stug G and T70 because they are nearly here!

Diadochoi10 Aug 2012 7:34 a.m. PST

Early war.

Griefbringer10 Aug 2012 7:39 a.m. PST

M5 Stuart – no plastic kit out for these in 1/72 so far, even though the actual vehicles were produced in fielded in quite some numbers. Extra kudos if the kit could also be used to build M8 GMC (Stuart hull with an open turret mounting a 75 mm howitzer).

chuck05 Fezian10 Aug 2012 7:44 a.m. PST

More russian vehicles. I have a hard time finding a variety of Russian tanks and armored cars.

CATMAN210 Aug 2012 7:48 a.m. PST

Pak 38s and M5 Stuarts high up the priority list. I'm going to try and do all M3 and M5 plus Scott etc in the 15mm Stuart kit so will attempt to replicate in the 1/72nd version

Rrobbyrobot10 Aug 2012 8:05 a.m. PST

How about T35s, T28s, etc…
And welcome back, Ditto.

Janick10 Aug 2012 8:21 a.m. PST

Tiger Is for Kursk!!! Big late war Russian tanks as well…also agree with the above Russian calvary or mounted units.

Early war British tanks for the desert would be nice in the future as well.

Tarleton10 Aug 2012 8:29 a.m. PST

Daimler armoured car, Valentine tank, Archer, M13/40.

Not mainstream but very few models out there.

PiersBrand10 Aug 2012 8:37 a.m. PST

Panthers…

Tigers, Cromwells, M5 H/Ts, Churchills, Matilda IIs, Panzer III…

But you know all this from me ranting on the drive back from Bovvy.

Oh and dont forget the truck sets… ;)

RexMcL10 Aug 2012 8:38 a.m. PST

A T-26 would be wonderful.

Other than that, light tanks such at the T-60 would be nice.

RexMcL10 Aug 2012 8:40 a.m. PST

Oh, also a SU-76 would be nice.

I could also use some Type 95s but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Rich Bliss10 Aug 2012 8:50 a.m. PST

M13/40. Please. I want them more than any Panzer you can name.

CATMAN210 Aug 2012 9:13 a.m. PST

Just finished T70 today so should appear early autumn. SU 76 is clearly on my radar now the T70 is done. T60 would be easy to do.

T26 next year

Desert is my love so expect lots of desert loveliness in the near future

……..and of course a Panther for Mr Brand

Vatutin10 Aug 2012 9:32 a.m. PST

M4A2, with both 75mm and 76mm, for both my Soviets and USMC.

Hmm,
Some of the lesser stuff:

How about a Hungarian Nimrod? Somewhat obscure I know but it would be awesome. I'd love to see M18s as I've not seen them done well in 1/72. M24s would also be nice. Also, some 75mm SPMs in M3 Halftracks would be nice for the Desert and Baatan!

kustenjaeger10 Aug 2012 9:46 a.m. PST

Greetings

While I can see add ons for the M3 halftracks being a possibility (or indeed an M18 – intriguing idea) – I suspect something like a Nimrod wouldn't generate enough sales.

Regards

Edward

The Young Guard10 Aug 2012 9:52 a.m. PST

Panther's (D version esp)

Panzer III (M/N verison)

KV1

Churchill IV

not that I'm looking for Kursk themed things at all!

vogless10 Aug 2012 10:10 a.m. PST

I know the Pz IIIs are coming, but I include them for completeness.

More Soviet kits: SU76 and variants like th I model. T34 upgrade kits like the mine roller and other models of the T34.

Anything else you like as I'll be buying it if it's 1:72….:) Normandy stuff would be good as it seems to be the next release for the Battlegroup series…

Miniaturerealm10 Aug 2012 10:11 a.m. PST

Look at some stuff that is not available in plastic from zvevda and co or due for release later this year, but in line with present fads !

My two penneth..

SU76. ISU 152/122. Sdkfz 250 series. JS2 and I know you said 4 but how about kingtiger.

Tommy2010 Aug 2012 10:27 a.m. PST

Another vote for the Daimler AC, plus the Dingo.

corporalpat10 Aug 2012 10:27 a.m. PST

My top four would be…
SU-76
Early Stug IIIa
Russian prime movers
Civilian cars (to commandeer)

Jage11110 Aug 2012 10:31 a.m. PST

Trucks! Opel Blitz (3 ton), Zis-5, etc. We need trucks!

US halftracks (useful for other Allied powers).

As for tanks: Matilda, any Crusader variants, Cromwell, Comet, M24 Chaffee, Hetzer, Pz II, KV1, and I am glad to know the T26 will be made.

Jeeps, Kubelwagens, a Beetle would be great!

Texas Jack10 Aug 2012 10:47 a.m. PST

Put me down for early war as well, especially early desert stuff.

Griefbringer10 Aug 2012 12:30 p.m. PST

M4A2, with both 75mm and 76mm, for both my Soviets and USMC.

There are already plastic 1/72 M4A2 fast assembly kits available from Armourfast and Italeri:

However, these both kits seem to contain only 75 mm version.

Redlancer3810 Aug 2012 1:32 p.m. PST

I don't understand why some people want models of vehicles that other manufactures already do: Panthers, Tigers, are already being sold by other companies, and some are very nice, but that's not the point. Now I'm sure that PSC have the ability, or not, to produce something better, but it really doesn't give the gamer anything new were they to redo these . It would, however, enhance the hobby if PSC filled the gaps in the market, as some of the posts above suggest.

I'd also like to see Soviet T26s and T28s, especially the multi-turreted T28. Or how about the little T38 or T40 amphibious tanks, or maybe a Komsomolets tractor to tow the already produced 45mm A/T gun? No one, as far as I know, produce these, widely used, early war Soviet AFVs, in a quick assembly, plastic kit.

If the desert is the theatre of choice what about A9/10/13s some of which could be used for the Battle for France.

For NW europe: An Archer tank destroyer or a good quick assembly QLT??

Darkus10 Aug 2012 1:38 p.m. PST

M4A4/Sherman V's (plus Fireflys !)

Desperately need a 1/72nd version for late war Brits !

Also need the StuGIII F/8 (as per the 15mm kit) nasty feeling from the careful wording on the website that the planned StuG will "only" be the Ausf G…

Early and late PzIII's

Early Shermans (narrow mantlet, bolted transmission, horizontal return roller arms, no applique, direct vision driver hoods, etc.) – Sherman II's and III's please…

M3 mediums (Lee and Grant turrets…)

Panthers (D/A, and early/late G's)

Definitely Dingos…

Humbers (MkiV's – I have plenty of Hasegawa MkII's; and the scars to prove it)

Pz II's

Valentines

Matilda II's

Churchills (MkIV's and Mk VII's)

Stowage kits

Conversion kit for the PzIV – Ausf D, proper drive sprokets and idlers for Ausf H, Ausf J rear plate with flammentoter, L43 KwK40 (cylindrical muzzlebrake for F2)…I've built a lot of your PzIV's…

And an easy build garden shed to store them in

Darkus10 Aug 2012 1:45 p.m. PST

Redlancer – agree that it can be counterproductive to exactly duplicate what other manufacturers have already released, but there are fundamental differences in the details for us closet rivet counters – a Panther is not just a Panther, Sherman V is very different to Sherman II etc, so thera are still LOTS of gaps in the market for EXTREMELY common types.

And the PSC models really hit the mark (in my view) in balancing detail and speed of build – and are pretty good on price too…

Battlescale10 Aug 2012 1:59 p.m. PST

Cromwell!

Cornelius10 Aug 2012 2:34 p.m. PST

LLoyd Carrier, 30 CWT trucks, Archer

Derek H10 Aug 2012 2:35 p.m. PST

I'd like to see you concentrate on the 15mm stuff :-)

number410 Aug 2012 3:26 p.m. PST

Wot redlancer said. And with guns please, not telephone poles!

Lord Elgin10 Aug 2012 3:41 p.m. PST

Thanks for asking PSC!! Could really use a Pz. II ( gives you the chassis for lots of others like Marder II !!)
For the Ruskies a Gaz truck with Katusha option. The T-70's are going to sell out! Can't wait.
Just built the 251 this week, excellent kit! Great product.

John Thomas810 Aug 2012 4:02 p.m. PST

UK White Armoured Cars

Churchill Crocodile
M3 "Honey"
M5 Stuart

PS Oops, just noticed you asked for 4- got a bit carried away.

1815Guy10 Aug 2012 4:53 p.m. PST

Just popped over to your site for a refresher. That £100.00 GBP Russians deal looks great. Too late for me though!

My suggestions:

1) Make sure that all your 15mm kits have been done in 20mm.

2) Transfers/Decals in 20mm are noticably lacking compared to 15mm.

3) +1 vote for stowage boxes, , jerry cans, sandbags, spare wheels – anything to personalise the kits and make them more individual on the table. British blanket boxes seem to be needed on the Shermans…..

4) M5 Stuart – needed in big numbers but not available anywhere. Your T70 equivalent in US/UK armies!

5)M8HMC also useful, and M3/M5 halftrack

6) Small stuff – Jeeps, German motorcycles – very expensive in Italeri.

7) When you do the Pz III please include bits for Command Pz III/Forward Obs

Keep up the good work.

Gunner Dunbar10 Aug 2012 5:05 p.m. PST

Lynx – there are no plastic models
Sdkfz 234 – with parts for all the options.
Sdkfz 250 – with parts for various options.
Cromwell – Hat do a quick build, but I like PSC better then Hat
Churchill – no plastic quickbuild Churchills out there.
Various cars – Jeeps, Horch type 40, kubelwagons etc

SU-76,British A9-A10's,M5 Stuarts with turretless recon option?,T-28's…….although the LVT suggested above would be tempting too….

Personal logo Sigwald Supporting Member of TMP11 Aug 2012 4:43 a.m. PST

M7 Priests and M5 Stuarts would top my list

John D Salt11 Aug 2012 4:47 a.m. PST

Some of these models are available in two different scales -- is there any chance of getting them pantographed to 1/76th?

All the best,

John.

If you are modelling Commonwealth forces you need these by the bucket and Airfix is the only reasonable plastic option I'm aware of. It would be nice to have these with some of their armament options – mounted Vickers and Brens, AT rifle, etc.

Griefbringer11 Aug 2012 7:11 a.m. PST

I'd like to see you concentrate on the 15mm stuff :-)

Would that make any real difference on the output? My understanding is that PSC essentially makes a single design for a kit, and this is then scaled (on the mould-making stage?) to produce actual moulds in different sizes.

Thus the added design work to produce same set in different sizes is relatively small. Granted, there is more mould-making work, but I have no idea whether that is a bottleneck for PSC or not.

Centurion904611 Aug 2012 8:12 a.m. PST

Will,

1. GE – RSO Tractor w/towed PaK 40 or towed leFH18/40.

2. SU – SU-76 Assault Gun.

3. UK – Loyd Carrier w/towed 6lb ATG.

4. US – M3 Halftrack.

A UK Sherman conversion kit (i.e. DD, Crab, Arty OP, and extra stowage) would also be nice in the future.

Looking forward to the Universal Carriers at the end of August.

(Leftee)11 Aug 2012 11:28 a.m. PST

Another vote for the M5 Stuart (with one M8 option turret)
US AT guns 57mm, 3" , 37mm
Tiger -Armorfast doesn't have these yet, nor for that matter M3 halftracks.
Jagdpanzer IV or Marder III's.
Su76 would round out nicely your Russian set – along with a Ba64 or white scout car -for Russian and Brits.

Oh and the 250's plus options would be nice!

Griefbringer11 Aug 2012 12:13 p.m. PST

Tiger -Armorfast doesn't have these yet, nor for that matter M3 halftracks.

Italeri has fast assembly kits for both of these, as well as for the M7 Priest.

Lord Elgin11 Aug 2012 12:36 p.m. PST

Any luck on finding that Priest ?? 0 out of 10000 for availability on that one…
