I just ordered the Blue Moon 15mm/18mm line of Musketeer figures from my local dealer. I already have a wonderful French town and farm in the form of the Landmark Normandy buildings, but I wanted a French chateau as well. A couple weeks ago at the swap meet I found what I think will do the job. It is a Disney Cinderella castle. I just finished it so I'm posting a front and real of the completed piece as well as one photo of what the castle looked like before modification/repair and painting. Hope you enjoy it. It was a fun project.

Well I suppose it could pass as a French chateau. If you Google image search for "French chateau", most of them look more like stately homes than castles. |

Flashman14, thanks for writing and the kind words. Margard, for the $2 USD I paid for it at the swap meet and the fun I had repairing and painting it, my Cinderella castle will serve as my French chateau until something significantly better comes along. Richard |

Really impressive. Especially as a new one is upwards of $70. USD Plus you do such good work. I did a google image search for French chateau as well. I found many mansions, but also quite a few castles. Albeit some have been extensively rebuilt. I look forward to seeing a full built game table. I've been very impressed by your work. Please keep it up. |

I want to see a pic with figures. Maybe a carriage on hat front drive. This looks great. A nice find and very swashbuckling atmospheric after the repaint. |

Rrobbyrobot and Dave, thanks for the generous comments. Dave, I should have put a figure up on those ramparts for the pic but it slipped my mind and since my wife or daughter do all my picture taking ( I hate to admit that while my eyes seem up to the process of painting my collection, for some reason I can't focus a camera). When I get the Blue Moon figures I'll try to remember to put a couple figures with the building. Actually I tried it out with a couple unpainted 15s I had on my paint table (an Old Glory and an Essex) just after I bought it, and they look pretty good. My guess is that the side walls on the entrance bridge are a little taller than I'd have preferred but not bad. If that bothers me I just scratch build a replacement with Evergreen and JTT plastic and reuse the little cone roof devices. Again, thanks to both of you for taking the time to write. Richard |

Not to nitpick but I think it is the Disney sleeping beauty castle, the Cinderella one is a little different. |

Razor78, you are probably right. One of the problems with getting things from the broken toy piles at the swap meet is they don't come in boxes with names. But Sleeping Beauty is far more Disney sounding. Given the fact that I live in 20 minutes drive from the Magic Kingdom and have a year round pass, that is something I should have known. Alas
. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the redo. Richard |
