I seriously have to get more willpower to resist those figures!

Your best work yet!!! I like your use of smaller basing gravel this time around too.

Thanks Matt, just started on my first box of Thebans :).

Another fine job Mike – curious about those armoured flautists? I used Warlord's Greek musicians with some recent peltasts and they seemed more appropriate.

The Victrix Mercenaries should do me.

Thanks Garry. Yeah all the torsos are armoured so that does limit the options for musicians. Gorgon Miniatures also do some very nice Spartan flautists in their Spartan command packs. You can never have enough Hoplites!

These look great. Really good photography also. Wish I could find the drive to paint up as many figures. I agree, some of your best work.
Also very much enjoyed Hittite archealogical photos on blog.

Thanks Raglan and Colin. Colin I have heaps of photos of sites and museums in Turkey and Egypt we've visited, so expect more posts.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing. The ink wash looks like it worked well. Did you just wash over white for the linothorax?

cyrus508 Aug 2012 3:07 p.m. PST

Thanks ether drake, yes I used the wash on everything including linothorax and shields.

Damn, those are so nice looking. I've got an old 15mm Spartan Hoplite army I built for DBM, but these are so beautiful I'm tempted to jump scales!
