Does anyone have any picture or clue of what was the uniform of the dutch Drummers, Fifers and Trumpets during this century? The Vinkhuijzen collection of military uniforms has a few pictures, but only of the guard units! My main interest is on their War of Austrian Succesion period, but information from all the century is welcome.

All I've got are Guards drummers.

Stephen Manley's booklet on the Dutch army of the WAS says there is no pictorial evidence other than the Guards but adds that drummers were supposed to have worn the normal private's coat with worsted lace in the button colour along the cuff edges and coat seams. Swallows nest type decorations are also described. For cavalry, he can only observe that they are believed to have looked like the infantry musicians.

So not a very colourful figure!

Still, thank you, it's a great start!
