The giant eagles of the misty mountains play an important part in major Middle Earth battles – do you use them ? I liked the SELWG middle earth rules which allowed the "Good" player to purchase them as part of his army, but only get to use them if he was losing !

Yes – allow from start of battle
Yes – can select but can only turn up to save the day
No

Clearly (I hope) this question is only applicable to those who game Middle Earth – we already know that WWII players don't use the eagles ofthe misty mountains in their games (unless very, very drunk).

Yes at the start of the battle.

I have a 5 Armies game being designed that use them. They have a random chance to start showing up late in the game. If properly designed, the forces of Good will desperately need them when they arrive. The eagles always arrive, but it may be too late to impact the outcome.

Found that it is REEEEEEEEALLY hard to prime them.

For those of you that know Jim Petrie, he used to have over 50 eagles when we gamed in the 70s.
