Trying to get an update on order…No response after a couple of days and 3 e-mails…Any know what up?

I am well aware of Lon's 1,000 of satified customers. I am not being sarcastic and I wish to join the list but no communication.

I wonder if he's out of the office for some reason? I note that he hasn't been on TMP since the 28th.

Jerry Lucas31 Jul 2012 7:37 p.m. PST

Tim,
Please feel free to mind your own business. I didn't bad mouth the guy and fail to see why you need to make stuff up. 4 days of not responding is ok in your book. I also run a business and find it a little odd. Did he get hurt?

Also, I saw the "other" guys post here. After posting HERE, It actual got solved because e-mails got lost.

John the OFM31 Jul 2012 7:45 p.m. PST

Good thing the [!] button isn't working.
That sounds suspiciously like a "Shut up!" reply, which is of course forbidden by TMP rules.

Ah, back in the 80s. I would send a typewritten letter to Hinchliffe, having driven to 7 banks to find one who handled "International Money Orders" in pounds sterling.
And, like clockwork… 6 weeks later I would get my order!!!!!

You can also try the telephone. Emails do get lost.

If left on my 800 number yesterday and one last Friday and they were from customers regarding orders from. There are no other messages.

There is one CRM message copied to my yahoo account from the webstore but had no order number or order date and I could not get into the store yesterday evening to check due to spotty cell service (see below.)

Obviously if you ordered anything that we sold through of at Historicon then we may have to await restock on an item or items in your order.

Be aware I am away for a few days on a scout trip (I am the local scoutmaster)and I have had very spotty and painfully slow ATT Edge service when I can get service. My 20 year old son is processing orders while I am away but I know he is behind.

Let me know.

I don't see any emails from anyone named Mark, just a CRM note sent from the contact page in the webstore. Is that you?

I have emails to brigadegames and from the webstore copied to a gmail account as a backup. I don't see any there from a Mark as well.

Hey Lon, so basically you have a real life outside of the hobby. I guess some folks don't get that fact!

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 9:00 a.m. PST

Nnascati: I wouldn't know what Lon does day to day. I never ordered from him before so I don't know how long things take. I also can't read minds, so I didn't know he was away. It is also clear to me that even when he is away he checks his messages. Why he didn't get my 1st two e-mails, I don't know.

Geez…alot of whiners on TMP these days

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 9:22 a.m. PST

Tim: Nice picture of you- You complain a lot about something that is none of your business.

Your re-interpretation of my statement is incorrect.
I don't need a dose of Tim's reality. Sorry.

You would wait a week. Good for you.

What Lon's business is, is Lon's Business.

Nick,
you have a short memory. didn't you go nuts on Triangle Games because you didn't get an order from them in 3 days? Let's check the wayback files.

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 11:15 a.m. PST

Yes I asked if people knew what's going on. That's why I came here and I got my answer.

You didn't answer the question. You had your own agenda and decided to lecture me on your reality. Ha! Deleted by Moderator

Jim,
Actually as I recall, it was concern that I had no idea when the order was shipping and I was leaving for vacation. At least I did not take it to a Paypal dispute, I handled it directly with Triangle.

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 11:20 a.m. PST

Some of Nick's comments:

"All, I emailed Buddy with an order on Saturday. Had no reply from him, but I figured he doesn't work weekends. Called him Monday, he said he could not find my email and please re-send it, which I did. Today is Wednesday, I still don't know if he has everything I ordered, when it will ship, or the cost of shipping! He has not charged my CC yet, so should I just cancel?"

"I've actually sent another email this morning, a few hours ago, no answer! He has what I want according to his listings, so I am willing ot give him the benefit of the doubt. However, I know that he is having some kind of surgery tomorrow, and will be out of commission for a few weeks!"

"… it really takes a couple minutes to do a quick email response."

"In fact, that is another thing. He doesn't even return phone calls. I've had to make maybe 4 long distance calls to him since my initial email on Saturday!"

"Geez! He sounds like a nice guy, but he is representing a number of UK based figure manufacturers. I don't even know how much the order is costing, as his website does not have a shopping cart to show shipping cost."

"guess I've been spoiled by some of the other dealer!"

"Nope, not instant gratification by any means. I initially placed the order on Saturday. I think it is quite reasonable to think that by Wednesday, I'd have a confirmation and delivery date. Buddy has not returned a single phone call or email, I have had to make ALL the contacts. Now however, he has me stuck as I don't know if the order has shipped yet!!"

"That's why I've called him. He has my email address as well as both home and work phone numbers, so really no excuse. The "About Us" statement that Porthos posted doesn't really sound like a one man band."

"Okay, the end of the story. Buddy just this minute called me. He was in the hospital all day with pre-op stuff for his ankle surgery tomorrow. Fine, I certainly don't begrudge him that. But, and I stand by this, this should have been clearly stated on his website, for all to see. That way, anyone thinking about ordering from him would know to either wait 4 weeks for his recovery, or go elsewhere. I'm sure he is a nice guy, and I have heard that recovering from ankle surgery is a bitch. However, I will not do business with him."

Lon communicates, and always has important notices up on the front page of his website.

Post in haste, Repent at leisure….:)

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 12:14 p.m. PST

Yes that's why I said I'm aware of his 1,000's of satified customers and was surprised no contact after 4 days…came here figuring someone would know if he was hurt or maybe his system is down. I never gave a phone call a thought, my bad…

Since you brought it up and for the record I DON'T HOLD THIS AGAINST LON…There is no mention about him being away with the scouts on his website, if there is I didn't see it.

Another thing for the record, I did need to speak to Lon in a timely manner. The reason is between Lon and I, not for the self-appointed avengers.

Jerry Lucas01 Aug 2012 12:28 p.m. PST

Lon has taken care of the problem…I apologized to Lon for posting here. Never thought Lon wouldn't take care of it. Thanks to Lon and Brigade Games for understanding.

I apologized to Lon because I didn't want him to think I was bad mouthing him like all the self appointed mayors on this board are trying to make it look like i did…

Helped who? The only person this would have helped would be Tim…So before anyone posts here please get the approval of Tim!!! It is his job to tell you you're wrong and to make sure you include certain details. failure to do so will require him to set you straight!!!

For the record, I did not post on my website that I am away this week since my oldest son is running the webstore to process orders when I am away. He helps me everyday when home from college and has helped me with the business for over 12 years and also at conventions.

Even when away, I am obsessive enough to watch the store and mind emails and phone calls. I didn't expect to have crappy or no service in many of the ports do far ( the scout trip is a week learning how to sail on the Chesapeake working on a sailboat with 12 of my scouts and 2 other adult leaders) it appears I get better service out in Chesapeake Bay on the boat. Unfortunately I only get short breaks during the day.

This customer has apologized and all is fine. He needed something with the order taken care of as he made an error. I never got any emails to either account or a phone call otherwise I would have seen them. Maybe yahoos spam filter caught the emails. I did get the CRM note from the contact page and as I told him this morning I needed more information to identify the order he was referring to.

Some friendly advice, Turn your email off and forget about work while on holiday.
Life's too short and people CAN wait for unimportant (in the scheme of things) hobby stuff wether they like it or not.

PS. and for very real security reasons people should NOT expect details of when you are away posted on your website, not unless THEY are willing to insure all your belongings when the more unsavory scumbags in the world see you are not at home…..

PPS. personally I'll wait at least a week, and usually two, before I become even remotely "concerned" about a reply to an order or query as I DO happen to realise many of the suppliers to our hobby are very small businesses with real lives that may interfere with things.

Those were the days…waiting everyday for the postman as you had no idea when things were coming!
