I've finished painting up a test figure from Micropanzer's Krystrial Empire force and have done some photos, a brief review and some useful comparison photos (its a very large mini for 15mm) for your enjoyment.

Nice figures and nice review and paint job but – judging by the size comparrison you've shown – how are these not '28mm scale' figures.

Not that I'm complaining, just asking. How tall are they anyway?

they could be a non heroic 28 they are about 25 to eye -- great size for 20mm small for most 28mm scales

Reality is I asked for 22.5 to eye and got 25 -- could do a size reduction mold to bring back down or pay almost a grand to have artist redo but don't have money to do either. If these get done in 28 they would be 50mm tall

so instead of being 8-10 feet tall they are now more like 10-12 I can live with it story wise and game terms.

In my game universe the overlords are much larger than a human and enslave other races and use them as shock troops and a squad of humans would be hard pressed to take out a Overlord squad.

The challenge is vehicles for them with out being a overly large -- I am thinking open top barge type landing craft -- Holds 5 overlords or 1 squad of riavaui or other slave troops.

It will all come together in rule book

Yeah they're big, a little bigger than I though they would be originally. As Jason says, they're 25mm. I think I'd prefer them to be a little smaller (as he intended) but I'm happy with them as they are. To me they're the equivalent of a heavy power armour suit, just organic instead. I like the whole 'slave empire' backstory (which I intend to nick!) and their prodigious size, as the 'master race', seems to fit to me.

@ Jason – How far along is the rulebook and what is the gist of the system you're working on?

rules are being put on paper in long form -- I will then have to make sure it lines out with my goals and then in house play test and hope for beta release December for public play testing

I will go more into style of play later -- it is not design your list but more in line with FOW style force org charts where you select squads. -- Units will be more a set thing with few upgrades ( cant really min max like 40k) I am doing away with on board HQ and adding in HQ asset specialist that can be used to reinforce units.
goal is larger than platoon smaller than company focus more on infantry with vehicle support to start.
Working on a basing system so you can use your existing figures that are mounted on 20mm bases with out re-basing or limiting play to one system -- not everything is group based as elite and character types operate as individuals.

not a you move, shoot assault and then I move shoot assault but not a random initiative card system. Clear attacker and clear defender ( some situations defender can counter attack thus becoming the attacker)

I could go on and on but will wait to get it in front of me to review first

Jason and Samulus. Again, just to say, I'm not criticising.

In a non humanoid figure, a 9ft tall, overbearing figure in 15mm becomes a big guy in 20mm a regular sized biped in 25mm and a small, tough little critter in 'heroic' 28/32mm.

I'm not fussed! It just makes them all the more useful and – as they aren't carrying anything recognisable as a modern weapon, there's nothing to snag the eye.

Good work.
