Hello, I've been working on a series of models for the Hive, Queen, and Country VSF Universe. I hope to have about 100 ship classes, with each offered in 2-3 different scales, for the 'full' release, to coincide with a source book release. Current 'in-progress' models can be seen at: link Any comments would be most welcome! thanks, arun shapeways.com/shops/objects |

WOW, can see mee ordering a few, thanks. |

Arun, those look great, although I think I'll re-purpose the ships for the aether and use them for Iron Stars, since it looks like the official range is never going to grow. Will some of the land units fit into Land Ironclads scale (1/1200)? |
arodrig6 | 30 Jul 2012 9:25 a.m. PST |
Thanks! I think they definitely can be repurposed for space-combat or other systems. The current plan is to offer each ship in at least two scales, many in three or four. The scales I'm targeting are: 1:1200 1:600 6mm 15mm There may be a follow-on book later which expands the ground vehicles. If you see some land units on the current page which you'd like rescaled, tell me and I can do so. |

Cool, thanks Arun. I'll take a more detailed look when I have some time and let you know about any land ironclads I'd like to try smaller. |

I think they definitely can be repurposed for space-combat or other systems. Wouldn't have looked if I didn't assume Aeronef as a possibility ;->= But some might tempt some Dystopian Wars folks who want to fiddle with some alternatives. I especially like the optional scale, though that's always open to interpretation as well. Images need scale object; doesn't Shapeways have a virtual quarter to add? Doug |
arodrig6 | 31 Jul 2012 8:17 a.m. PST |
Doug, I'll check on the virtual quarter. I know some people put them in with their renderings, but I think it is a manual process. There are also measurements for each model below the description, which can give some sense of scale. As I order them myself, I'll post some actual pictures to help give a better feel. I'm curious – do you think I missed any key scales or would 1:1200, 1:600, 6mm, 15mm be the right range to hit? thanks, arun |

That pretty much runs the gambit, in my opinion. personally, I like 6mm and 15mm. |
TheBeast | 31 Jul 2012 10:45 a.m. PST |
but I think it is a manual process. *shrug* Neither ordered nor posted there, just an occasional viewer. Virtual coin or ruler would help; it's so common on the site, I'm surprised they don't have it as an option. If anything, too many scales, but that allows for the kind of mix-and-match interpretation I so favor. ;->= Doug |

I think those scales are fine, the only thing maybe to keep in the back of your mind is some of the skyships in 1/2400 if they're too big to mesh with Iron Stars (or other spaceship lines). With my next Shapeways order I'll try one out and see how they look, I could't find any info on scale online. My IS ships are still packed up. |
arodrig6 | 31 Jul 2012 9:37 p.m. PST |
I have never bought any of the Iron Stars line – how large are they? |
boy wundyr x | 01 Aug 2012 8:16 a.m. PST |
I'll try to remember to measure some tonight. |

Sorry, Arun forgot last night (actually, I napped). I'll try again. Man, the Utah and Indianapolis rock! It also appears for the plane-like craft that the props are DIY add-ons, so the craft could be used as spaceships for another project, which is sort of a WWII-aircraft-in-space idea, inspired by the very short-lived Rocketship Empires RPG setting. link |

Boy wundry, I'm glad you liked the Utah and Indy, they are some of my favorites as well. I haven't seen the Rocketship empires stuff in a while, thanks for reminding me! thanks! |
TheBeast | 05 Aug 2012 10:34 a.m. PST |
Yep, Utah is about my fav so far. Slightly less for Indy, and the rest a bit pulp for my tastes, but admitting a whole lot of YMMV there. Wish I could find my Iron Stars and upstage the Boy. ;->= Doug |

Doug, The HQC universe is pretty diverse, so the ships tend to range from pulpy to post modern. With 77 ship classes an 133 models (so far), hopefully there is something for everyone in there :-) The current ship list is below, but I hope to keep this page: link up to date as I release more. 3E Support Ship available in 1:1200 6mm 3E Transport available in 1:1200 6mm AC-1 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm AC-1 Color available in 15mm AC-4 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Aerial Sovereign available in 1:1200 Aheam available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Albatross available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Alpini Air Fort (2 Gun 2 Missile) available in 1:600 Alpini Air Fort (Gun) available in 6mm Alpini Air Fort (Rocket) available in 6mm Alpini Air Fort (Science Repair Redoubt Depot) available in 6mm Avispa available in 1:600 6mm 15mm BBRAS Explorer available in 1:600 CarroArmato available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Donskoy available in 1:600 El Alto Class available in 1:1200 Emperor Napoleon available in 1:600 1:1200 Felix Flyer available in 6mm French Cayley 1885 available in 6mm French Cayley 1890 available in 6mm Geryon available in 1:1200 Gothic Carrier available in HMAS Hannibal available in 1:600 HMAS Hannibal 1:600 available in 1:600 HMAS Spica available in 1:600 Hospital Ship available in 1:600 1:1200 Hotchkiss H.3 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Hummingbird available in 1:600 6mm Indianapolis available in 1:600 1:1200 Ishikari available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Japanese MiniPlane available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Krupp Carrier available in 1:600 1:1200 Krupp KR 10B available in 1:600 Krupp KR 6A available in 1:600 15mm Krupp KR 9B available in 1:600 KruppGS available in 1:600 6mm 15mm KruppZep available in 1:600 KuK #6 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Kurile available in 1:600 6mm Libertad y Orden available in 1:600 Mikasa available in 1:600 Modular Freighter available in 1:1200 6mm Mozhaysky available in 1:600 Muhammad Ali available in 1:600 Mustang available in 1:600 Mustang Class available in 1:1200 Observation Balloon available in 1:600 Omen Light Fighter 2 available in 15mm Ornithopter Mark I 20mm available in Ornithopter Mk I available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Oryoshi available in 1:600 OttomanZep available in 1:600 Owl available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Piaggio AS available in 1:600 6mm 15mm PrivateFlyer available in 15mm Regno available in 1:600 San Diego available in 1:600 1:1200 Sea Eagle available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Sea Eagle Color available in 15mm Sea King Flyer available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Sea King Platform available in 1:600 6mm Sea King Platform 2 available in 6mm 15mm Shrike available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Tepui available in 1:600 1:1200 6mm Torpedo Flyer available in 1:600 Triple Empire Battleship available in 1:600 Triple Empire Cruiser available in 1:600 Triple Empire Destroyer available in 1:600 Triple Empire Fleet (11 Ships) available in 1:600 Tsuibushi available in 1:600 UK HeavyLifter available in 1:600 Utah available in 1:600 1:1200 Venusian Privateer available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Vezdekhod 1 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Vezdekhod 2 available in 1:600 6mm 15mm Vityaz available in 1:600 Wadia Forward Base available in 1:1200 Zongtang available in 1:1200 |

The HQC universe is pretty diverse, so the ships tend to range from pulpy to post modern. Not to worry, I've been beaten about the head and body for that before. Tricky thing about crossposts, of course, someone clicks on Victorian Science Fiction, and they come with that mindset. One learns, slowly, to stop at W.T.F., take a breath, then a look around. ;->= Doug Edit: If anything, I'd probably appreciate near genre-specific lists, but YMMV still gets in the way. |
arodrig6 | 08 Aug 2012 6:38 p.m. PST |
Doug, yes, cross posting is a bit nebulous. Especially for ships like these, many of which will probably be repurposed for other game systems. Enjoy! |
