Though I unfortunately wasn't there myself, my fellow Camaronista (maddened enthusiast for the 1863 Battle of Camerone) Michael Montemarano ran a rather epic CAMERONE game, using a meticulously researched miniature version of the Hacienda de la Trinidad he custom-built himself. If interested, please check it out here: link *Note: cross-posted to Terrain & Scenics board because I've also put up WIP pics and Michael's written tutorial on how he built the compound. |

Wow. I'm really sorry I missed seeing that. Stuck in the dealer hall most of the time. Well done! |

It look great in person. That was one of the games I pre-reg'd for (Friday night), but HMGS dropped all my info, so I only got to watch. |

Mike ran a pick-up game on Wednesday night. (Thanks, Mike!) I had a lot of fun storming the gate while my fellow Mexicanos broke into the buildings and dug under the wall. Setting the buildings on fire was the key. |

Oh, no, Oddball, say it ain't so -- how could they do that to one of the greatest characters in the history of war films?!?!?! In all seriousness, you have my sympathy. That seriously sucks. But at least you got to see it up close and in person. @WR, vtsao, and AoW, I agree wholeheartedly! I just hope my own version looks that good when the time comes. @Schogun: smart move lighting up the hacienda! One important thing I forgot to mention above is that the legendary RICH HASENAUER helped a lot with the game, and the one-page "Ruleser" used was a Camerone variation he adapted from his Alamo Ruleser. |

What a convention game should look like, very nice. Especially liked the clutter, it made it more "real". Ah, the legacy of the late Peter Gilder lives on. |

It was a great looking game. I liked all the debris scattered about the courtyard as well. |

He certainly did do a great job -- just heard he earned the "Best of Show" Game Master Award for "Not Men but Demons" -- the 1863 Camerone game linked to and discussed here. Congratulations, Michael! NOTE: I should have a bunch more pics of this award-winning game posted on my Camerone blog some day soon. Will post a fresh link here when I do. |

Ged, Ordered your "Last Stand at Camerone" pack last night! Excited to see the next batch as well! Right now I think I will be building my entire "Company Danjou" Foreign Regiment force for the 150th anniversary out of your excellent figures, so I'm really hoping for more officers (to portray Lts. Maudet & Villain) and more NCOs! Meanwhile I've got a question for you: will your Maximillian range include Mexican Republican/Juarista forces? If so, any idea what the first of these will be, or when they may start showing up
? Whatever the answer is, please keep up the good work, and thanks for having the Legionnaires out in time to be painted up for the big anniversary! BTW, Michael -- whose award-winning Historicon Camerone game is the subject of this thread and who already has a complete force of FFL for use at the battle -- plans to buy a bunch of your wounded figures on the ground, for use as Legion "severely wounded" in his game. One thing I love about your company is that every single figure is available for sale INDIVIDUALLY. Other than having good quality sculpts, that's probably the most important factor for a company to win me over. |
