Wooden Wars: Wooden Soldier Project – Part 9: Cannonade, Casualties, and Rallying!
Grenadiers with new Drum and Standard bearer arms!
In this post, for your review, I have an artillery battery and a unit of "Guard" Grenadiers painted up. All part of the troop buildup for the games I'll be running at GenCon and Pacificon this year. I also go over rallying and reinforcements in Wooden Wars, as well as some in game action shots! Thanks for coming by and taking a look see! skullandcrown.blogspot.com Cheers! Thomas Foss |

I bet kids and adults love your games. They look better than some of the 3D figures going around. I also like the detail on the templates that will assist young painters in making their figures look good. Nice. |

Thanks Guys! Bandolier- What usually happens is the kids play a game first, then the "adults" shoo them away and then play! That is why I have basic and advanced rules. :) My kids like painting and using felt pens, which catches the etched lines and works quite well. I'll be posting some of their work soonly. Ancients gamer- the Wooden Wars project started exactly because I wanted to do things with my children and god children. It's a hoot! Cheers- Ths |

.. and I hope in years to come, you'll be blessed with many grandchildren to keep this going. In 35+years of wargaming, this is by far the most inspiring. |

If you have any stock left after Gencon is there a chance that you'll sell some samples? I'd love to get a few for my boy to paint to see how he likes it. Since he was born on Waterloo day this seems like a must. |

Pbishop 12- so do I, but my oldest son is only 5, so I am WAY okay to wait a spell for grandchildren! Your inspiration inspires me! A Twiningham- Tell you what; PM me here, or drop me a line at www(dot)foss1066(at) yahoo(dot)com and I'll send you and your son a fig or two. If you like them, maybe you can help support my kickstarter I am launching in a few weeks. Born on Waterloo- I'll bet he's a cavalry man at heart! Cheers, thanks for the feed back Thomas Foss |

Great looking troops as always, Thomas. One question, since the cavalry horses are end on to the ball fusilade (rather like a duellist turning sideways to present a smaller target), aren't they more stable and harder to knock over ? Steve |

Ahoy Corporal- Yes,yes they are. Have you ever played any Games workshop or related miniatures game where they give the mounted troops that +1 save onna counta? Well, with Wooden Wars- it's built right into the system! That being said, as riders are not glued to the mounts, when hit they go tumbling, and horses go down- especially if caught in the flank! I'll be writing more about this, and showing off some painted cav in my next update! cheers Thomas |
