I'm looking for an affordable source of oil drums and other scatter terrain to put on the bases of my 15mm scifi buidlings. Anyone came across a good train kit or beads that work well? |
| theRaptor | 22 Jul 2012 9:23 p.m. PST |
There might be a cheap train kit out there but all the ones I have found were pretty expensive for the amount of barrels you get (I got a bitter area/dollar ratio with wrecked cars). |

I'd love some tyre barricades. |

GZG does some barrels and other ammo boxes, etc. As mentioned, most of the model RR stuff is more expensive than ours, in this scale. |

The Khurasan street dressing is rather nice – examples painted up here link 14 June and 27 June entries showing drums and rubbish bins. |

We've got quite a lot of new 15mm scenery out in about 1-2 weeks time. Lots of crates of various dimensions, fans, hatches, doors and laser-cut buildings. (Really its just waiting for Hed's dislocated thumb to improve enough so that he can start casting again) /Dee |

Will you ever be making 15mm versions of the control panels and other such interior kit? It's all good, just wrong scale! Cheers. |
Antenocitis CSR | 23 Jul 2012 4:58 a.m. PST |
Yeah, pretty much everything will be converted to 15mm over time. at the moment its "just": smooth crates, standard crates, refigerated crates, secure crates, air-movers, interior doors, Mk II blast doors, exterior fans (new, 3 sizes), square ahtches (new), garage doors (new), windows (new), grates (new, 3 sizes), shuttered windows (new), round grilles (3 sizes , new), solar panel arrays, airlock doors (new), Bunker Entrance. all of that plus the first of the laser-cut buildings is out as soon as Jed can cast again. After that comes the GRID, medical scanner, command desk, weapons concoles, cryo-chamber ( 2 types, new) etc etc. /Dee |

I'd been waiting for the stuff from you to come out in 15mm, I was pretty sure it would eventually. I much prefer your 'the future is curvy' rather than other manufacturers 'the future is chunky' design philosophy. It just looks better to me. BTW will the laser cut buildings have removable roofs for placing figures inside? |
republic of tolworth | 23 Jul 2012 5:33 a.m. PST |
Oh joy! Everything I've been waiting for! Happy happy happy happy happy. *sorry nurse, I'll come away from the windows now!* |

BTW will the laser cut buildings have removable roofs for placing figures inside? Yes. They are also designed to fit the scenery i.e. you can replace a laser-etched door, or solar panel or air-con unit with a 3d model of the same. SO you can add resin doors, grilles, vent, hatches, doors, solar arrays etc on to the laser-cut building to give it extra "depth", or just leave it as-is with those features etched-into the HDF. /Dee |

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Vexilla's two kinds of barrels and crates sprues are very tempting. Ah hell ordered! |

I have a couple of packs of the Rebel Minis scifi stowage John. Good stuff. |
nazrat | 24 Jul 2012 8:47 a.m. PST |
I bought a number of the packs from GZG. They are reasonably priced in my opinion, and he offers a great number of nice futuristic looking cargo containers, crates, and various other bits and bobs. I need look nowhere else! |
javelin98 | 24 Jul 2012 12:02 p.m. PST |
I've made some cargo and stowage items, but I'm trying to find ways to make it more affordable:
link Another thought -- I can make end caps (such as for cylinder containers, barrels, etc.) that would fit onto plastic rod that is readily available from Plastruct, Evergreen, etc. That would make the printing costs less painful, at least. Also, for modern and sci-fi use, I'm working on consoles, terminals, security cams, security-door card readers and keypads, etc. Here's a test shot I uploaded a while ago. I've been working on it since, mostly to make the keys on the keypads stop disappearing, but also to add more variety of consoles and whatnot to the assortment. If there's anything else people would like to see, just let me know and I can put it in my queue.
Thanks, jav98 |

Just seen these extra bits Jav, excellent! Love the cameras. Your doing such nice stuff, you need to find some one to cast this stuff up! |
