Do you have the same army, in the same period, in more than one scale (for example 12mm for big battles and 54mm for the skirmish games)? If so, what scales and what periods? |
John the OFM | 19 Jul 2012 8:02 p.m. PST |
I have AWI figures baed for regimental games, 3 on a 2" x 1" basswood base, and for skirmish games, mounted on washers. However, both are are 25/28mm. I think that counrs. |

Oh yes, ww2 British & Germans in 6mm, 15mm, 20mm and 54mm
. The US and Soviets are only in two scales. I've even got the same units in three different scales. WW1 in 6mm, 15mm and 20mm, differentiated by theatre and period. Moderns in 2mm, 6mm and 15mm (1970s/80s Brits in all three). Excluding air and naval assets of course. They add a few more scales. |
pigbear | 20 Jul 2012 3:18 a.m. PST |
TYW in 2mm (Swedish, Saxon, Imperialist, Leaguist, more to come) and 10mm (in progress but will cover some of same). If I ever get through painting all I can see expanding to 15mm and possibly 28mm for some of these armies. Moderns in 1:600 and 28mm. These are both imagi-nations. I also have 1:285 Moderns but not the same armies. |
Khusrau | 20 Jul 2012 3:28 a.m. PST |

I think any comprehensive collection must have a variety of scales in it. I pick what I think is the right scale for the project (so frequently end up duplicating components I already have in an existing set)
I have 15th Century Medievals in 15mm, 20mm, 54mm and 90mm – the former, of course, for regular 'battle' games, and the latter for skirmish style Participation Games. The 54s are work in progress for a new DBA presentation. I have overlapping ancients collections in 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 28mm and 30mm flats – 10mm is the best scale for ancient battles, 15mm is the most common, 20mm is the most econmic and 30mm flats are the most eye-catching. WW2 I have Eastern Front stuff in 20mm and 15mm. 20mm is too big in most cases (but didn't we all start there
?).. I have Gladiators in 15mm, 20mm, 54mm, 90mm and 1:12 action figures. The former are in my Slave Revolt army and in a 'travelling Gladiolus' set, the latter are for playing the game at shows. Phil |

Greetings Generally where the forces are used for different types of games. WW2: 20mm (for 1:1 platoon actions), 15mm (for 1:1 company actions and 1:3 battalion actions), 10mm (for 1:5 brigade actions). WW1: 20mm (samples so far), 10mm and 6mm but for different armies/theatres. Napoleonic: 28mm (skirmish), 15mm, 6mm (large battles) ECW: 28mm (skirmish +), 6mm A few others tested in different scales. Many of the above in progress rather than finished. Regards Edward |

We had Napoleonics in two sizes, 15mm and 25/28, and we own WWII in three sizes, 1/285, 15mm, and 20mm, plus some odds and ends 28mm figures for large size skirmish |
jay138 | 20 Jul 2012 7:50 a.m. PST |
Yes napoleonic french in 15mm (1813-1815) and 28mm pre1812 |
steamingdave47 | 20 Jul 2012 8:29 a.m. PST |
Russian Napoleonics in 6mm, 15mm and just started in 28 mm. The 6 mm date from when I belonged to a group which did "big battles" at a 1=20 ratio- that's a lot of figures if you are doing Lepizig! 15mm are for regular gaming and 28mm because I just love the figures. |

Kind of. I am a primarily 28mm gamer, so msot of my stuff is in 28mm. I have a few sets of scifi stuff in 15mm and 6mm that parallels some of my 28mm stuff, so I guess that would count. |
Midpoint | 20 Jul 2012 12:03 p.m. PST |
No! That way madness lies. I can kinda see the argument in collecting the same period but different game concepts [e.g. skirmish Vs mass battle] but it is something I tend not to do. |
