Very nice area with a decent road net and plenty of amenities. Even though it is further from my home and more expensive here I hope it stays. Sttangely enough when we turned off the highway my wife and I noticed the area was familiar – the summer before we had stopped here to rest while driving home from Florida, we were planning to take two days coming back but a hurricane decided to head right for NJ, first time in decades…

Can I ask what location you are staying at there and your take? I did not make it to Historicon this year, but thinking about it for next year.

The downtown Marriott is fantastic. Recently built so it's very nice. Excellent service, and the location is awesome. Literally downtown so you can walk to places to eat as well as to the main pontoon site and street fighting during the battle. Depending on your rates it can be a real bargain. Highly, highly recommend.

We are staying at the townplace suits since we could get 2 bedrooms there – by the time my wife decided to go the residence inn was booked or I would have gone with that. The hotel is OK, worth what we are paying.

I am staying at the Homewood Suites which are right across the parking lot from the convention center based on what I was able to googlemap. The rooms form the photos look very nice indeed. There is supposed to be a hot complementary breakfast every morning which is a plus to me.
