"Spartacan rabble in 15mm?" Topic

Im considering gaming this revolt at some point. Any recommendations for 15mm figs that look like they have looted Roman kit on? Mayne some imitation Marion legions?

Basically looking for something that wont look exactly like their oppoments!

There is Donnington's Slave Revolt range. They tend to have bits of gladiator kit rather than looted armour though.

I'm _very_ slowly doing one, using things like Xyston Romans including their legionaries in Gallic armour. A variety of shields, mix of men with and without armour and removal of crests adds to the mix.

Don't forget that everyone is Spartacus in the last battle ("I'm Spartacus") so you can use the same pose.

Peter Pig does a pack of figures in just tunics throwing rocks that would be good for skirmisher scum.

Museum Miniatures does 15mm Gladiators to mix in

The gladiator gear bit is easily overdone.

By which I mean that Spartacus and about sixty others in the first week of the rebellion had some gladiator equipment, allegedly looted from what amounted to a delivery truck on their way out of Capua.

But, aside from being connected with their slave status, gladiator armour was stage costume first and foremost. When they had the chance to get some Roman armour and weapons, they did so. And since they kept beating Roman forces time after time, they had a lot of opportunity.
