I am working on a British army for the Indian Mutiny, but have been finding conflicting data on the full dress shell jacket worn by the Royal Horse Artillery. All sources agree it was dark blue with yellow frogging on the chest, and yellow trim on the collar cuffs and back seams, and all agree that the collar and trouser seam was red. The conflict comes from the color of the cuffs – some sources state they were red, while other sources indicate or show the cuffs as dark blue. Which is correct for the Royal Horse Artillery at this time?

Thanks for any help,

Terry

RHA weren't involved in the Indian mutiny, as far as I know?

The RHA was, indeed, involved in the Mutiny. Perhaps Chouan's statement is based on that fact that they were not present in India when the mutiny broke out. They arrived as reinforcements with Colin Campbell in August 1857.

Sorry, my mistake.
