hi, looking for info on the above, when these followed did they join the Krassow corps? also what units were there in this corps? eastern style and/or western in style? hope this post is clear.

i am trying to add some other units to a swedish GNW army and thought this might be the way forward.

Good question…since the official "state" units were organized by Augustus along the Saxon model I would assume the various nobles who rallied to Leszcyriski brought their household troops…probably light cavalry and some pancerni. My guess is that infantry was uniformed in the eastern style but maybe a mix…I suspect by this point they had adopted Western tactics. I doubt that any Polish infantry accompanied Charles in his invasion of Russia.

The Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian armies were two separate forces. The Commonwealth still retained it's old organisation as Augustus was as dependent on the Sejm as previous Polish kings when it came to raising and mantaining an army.

A good chunk of the Crown army defected to King Stanislaw, according to Polish historian Jan Wimmer he fielded a total force of some 16000 men in 1706 and Potocki brought some 9000 men to the battle of Kalisz that year. At Kalisz the map shows the Polish army deployed in 54 units of Husaria and Pancerni as well as 26 units of cuirassiers and dragoons.

On Vlad's blog there should be some entries under Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth tag:

for example this:

And it's Stanislaw Leszczynski (cannot use Polish letter here…) not Leszcyriski ;)
