I like the look in the catalogue image, found here:
I would want to go with different colours, though. So, how would you suggest painting the clear plastic tubes of the tanks to make it appear as though there were liquid within while retaining enough translucency for the contents to remain clearly visible? |

my feeling would be a thinned ink wash
perhaps with a bit of thickener – a magic wash? |

pour varnish in. Or try transparent paints by Tamaya |

As LordNth says, I'd go with Tamiya transparent paints, maybe even just on the back walls of the cylinders. |

Dip them in future floor wax that has a tint. |

Lots of good ideas, thanks! |

The one thing that would look really cool would be to have bubbles rising. Don't know how to do that, but if someone figures out a way, please post. Matthew |

short of painting them on the side, which would lose its effect as soon as you turned away from that side of the tube, you'd probably have to inject or fill the tank with something to do that. A wholly transparent resin would probably do the trick, if you could avoid it leading to other problems. |

I've seen strings of bubbles done using glass no-hole microbeads glued to thick strands of stretched clear sprue. That might work. They're cheap on Ebay; this is a good mix of 3 sizes: auction |
