I'd like to get onto the Egyptian Campaign but have some questions:
The Egyptians/ Turks had lots of cavalry. The French not so much. The French as a consequence marched around in squares a lot. Any rules that can handle that?
What unit scale would be best for this? I was thinking bgde sized units with elements of battalions (2 to 6) on a 2 x 2 or 3 x 2 mounting. What problems would arise from this?
My table is 5 x 5. Which mini scale would you recommend? Does any onemake 15mm except Black Hat?
If in 28mm I was thinking 6 bgdes of inf and a couple of cav for French and Brits and a couple more for Turks. That sound about right for the table size to allow some maneuver?
Thx …Mike

We started our 28mm Napoleonics range with an eye on the Egyptian campaign.

We have more in development to add to the range but as it stands today there are already many troop types covered:

Obviously, the appropriate figures from the French, British and Ottoman ranges would be of interest.

We have also recently acquired the Victrix metals range which was also sculpted by Paul Hicks (just like our range Napoleonics.) I will have both the original Brigade Games range and the Victrix metal additions at Historicon next week assuming the overseas shipping Gods look kindly on me. Once I receive the Victrix metals stock I will be adding those codes to the BrigadeGames webstore under the Brigade Games Napoleonics section.

Played most of the French Egyptian and Syrian campaign battles. Interesting period. Painted up the excellent range of old 25/28mm Armee d'Orient Dixon miniatures and a mixed horde of Ottomans or Egyptian peasants over the years. Rarely seen were Janissaries in this theater of operations except Heliopolis and Aboukir. Mostly provincial Ottoman or Levant units.

Played battles of Alexandria 1801, Heliopolis, Gaza, Mount Tabor, Small siege of Arce 1799, Jaffa, El Arish, Pyramids of Giza, Aboukir and Rahmanie.

British army of 1801 included some units, via the Red Sea landings, from the Honorable East India company (sepoys).

Posted the Battle of Gaza, for example, on the blog: link
