Strolling around FRP games I found the Defiance Games page and lo and behold they have several sets apparently up for "pre order". A few are known such as the Germans, but some I have never heard about some of them such as Sequoia Indian Scouts and Vralk Warriors. Are these for real or some communication mixup?

I'd 'pre-ordered' the first bug set back in June and I'm still waiting for confirmation that they're 'all out the door'…like they did with the Marine pre-orders.

The figs look great, but as a word to the 'wise'….I'd advise you to pre-order only if you're willing to 'wait' for them/want any pre-order specials….and can handle 'sliding' delivery dates.

That's just the way it is with some 'pre-orders' vs actually buying 'off the shelf'/in stock items….and you need to be mentally 'prepared' for that.

It's all a part of the road map… They just need to turn the gps on to find their way there.

No pre-ordering for me, thank you. I've been burned by FRP on that before.

The German Panzergrenadiers are in the works as I write and the bugs are assembled on my table.

The other items are future releases. I'm not sure why FRP has them advertised at this point.

The Road-map tells me the bugs are shipping in May, followed by female troopers, the hardsuits etc. Has anyone got theirs? are they nice?

Or did the dog eat Mexican Jack's Homework again?

The way I look at it is I take the published release dates and add two months to each.

So the Bugs will ship in July
Grenadiers in August/September
Hard Suit in August (although I think more September)
UAMC Ladies in September

I do have the UAMC which are very nice little models and I will admit I pre-ordered the Bugs. Asked for a Gunny model too. I appreciate that they release dates plus posting pictures of the artwork, etc at all. Admittedly when they do that I set aside some of my budgeted hobby money for a box or three of whatever they release.

So I guess Bikers, Iroquois, and Vralks might make it at around Oct-Dec?

If I had a grain of rice for every time a deadline was promised and for whatever reason was *missed* in this hobby of ours, I would have cornered the rice market 20 years ago.

I'm 50 now, and have been wargaming with miniatures since the age of 16. I've got all sorts of figures in my menagerie, and more than a few of 'em were promised on a certain date, only to be delivered months later due to assorted "unforeseen circumstances beyond our control."

If there was ever an industry that was the poster child for Chaos Theory, this is the one.evil grin

The way I look at it is that the publication of the roadmap thingy was an ill adviced move on DG' part at best and it should be forgotten as soon as possible. Based on the maxim that an actually shipping miniature set means considerably better PR and more income to the company than any number of previews and/or promises that indeed sometimes (or oftentimes, as the case may be) can't be kept for whatever reason.

Which brings to mind, haven't seen much commentary about the Bug miniatures yet from non-affiliated parties. Anyone such care to post a review/link to a review?

I dont think Bugs are "out" yet…….

Bashytubits12 Jul 2012 8:37 p.m. PST

No bugs yet. They should be shipping out now though according to Defiance Games.

Yes, I noticed their webshop said "now shipping" (or thereabouts) instead of "available for preorder" (or something to that effect) but apparently they haven't gotten the Bugs to the customers yet then. Ah well, good things come to those who wait I'm certain.

I'll buy them when they turn up at Northstar, not before.
