"Addams Family or Munsters?" Topic

Look at the Munsters as a bizarre family trying to act normal, and the Addams Family as a normal family acting bizarre.

Munster's theme song was better. Adams Family was good, but Munster's was a hip beat.

For a show, I liked the Adam's family, although Herman did have a great ride.

Ironically the Munsters was just on the Biography Channel this morning. I would have to go with the Munsters. I always had the hots for Yvonne DeCarlo, Pat Priest wasn't bad either.

Munsters, when I was younger Adams Family would not have even been in the running but now it is a close call.

I am firmly planted in the Addams Family camp, though I did watch both as a kid (but only the Addams Family as an adult).

I loved everything about that show, from the weird nick knacks in their house, to Lurch, to the kooky family and the deranged musings of Gomez. The cast was great, the writing (usually) top notch, and the jokes were all delightfully macabre. What a show!

Adams Family to the hilt.

Despite all the talent in "Munsters," it was lame, lame, and usually lame.

The original Charles Adams cartoons were a much better source of material than the standard contrived sit-com stuff of "Munsters," but there were, for me, two HIGHLY persuasive reasons for me loving Adams Family in my early teens:

1) Carolyn
2) Jones

I rest my case!

3) John Astin – I don't believe I've ever seen an actor having a better time in a role than him playing Gomez.

Of course, if I was playing opposite Carolyn Jones, I'm sure I'd be having the time of my life as well!

c. the movie – Raul Julai – best actor ever; Christina Ricci awesome as Wednesday

Even as a kid I knew the Addams Family was better.

Addams. The Addams were cool and crazy while the Munsters were just goofy.

I'd say Frank Gorshin playing the Riddler of the original TV suck-assed Batman would give him a run for his money.

3. I've always enjoyed both the old TV shows. The casts were good. The sets were fun. What's not to like?

We all know that Herman Munster worked in a funeral parol, but what did Gomez Adams do for a living? He was always home. Were the Adams independently weathly?

Gomez was a financier and had pirates treasure under his house.

Addams Family. I always felt that the Munsters was "forced strangness". With the Addams you could assume that they thought everyone was like them, and surprized when they found out differently.

Addams Family by big margin.
