I've purchased 2mm figures from Irregular in the past and found them only so-so in quality and the mailing costs from UK much too high. Are there alternatives? |

2mm black powder or another 2mm range? |

Pico is 3mm but is probably the only one that I know that is close to 2mm. Never saw the point in 2mm. I would rather use printed counters. I would change my mind if you could actually tell what 2mm figures are other than elephants and such. |

3mm may be close to 2mm in the real world, but in gaming terms it is like saying 10mm is close to 15mm. |

I am near to finishing this base of Medieval troops for scale puposes
I don't have a camera that does such small details justice, but I think it is clear enough that there is a mass of close order archers on the base, with mixed archers and armoured infantry behind (+ some mounted knights commanding them)
The purpose of the base is simple – I am doing a DBA treatment of the battle of Bosworth, and as a consequence of that game's notional 12 element armies, each 80mm wide element represents some 300-500 actual soldiers. I thought it would be a good scale reminder for the players to see a 'real scale' 80mm wide base with 300 figures on it. 2mm allows me to do that. I think the figures are therefore useful if not a 'top pick' Phil soawargamesteam.blogspot.com |

Uncle Ben While it made me chuckle, Ravenscraft is right. At that level of detail, you certainly could use rice to make blocks of troops. |

Just because someone can't see the detail on 2mm does not mean it is not there. Those people should try looking properly, using a magnifying glass if their eyes are not up to it. It most certainly is there. |

@ ancientsgamer – I can tell them apart, even at 3'. For the OP, Brigade Models UK also makes some 2mm for their Land Ironclads range – but that's also coming from the UK. I don't find Irregular's 20% for surface shipping too bad. |

At that level of detail, you certainly could use rice to make blocks of troops. At 6mm maybe. Rice is too tall for 2mm!! |

I have yet to see Irregular's 2mm (though I plan to place an order within the week), I can tell you that the BM 2mm infantry I own are really basic. No magnification necessary: they look like teeny little salt-shakers. Trusting Angel Barrack's testimonial, I have to assume Irregular's infantry do not look like teeny little salt-shakers. |

I think there aren't any other 2mm figure manufacturers, other than Irregular & Brigade. Here's a site that has some pictures of both the figures & terrain from Irregular. link For terrain
Langton Miniatures has a range of buildings that are labelled as 1/1200 but I've read that they are bigger than that, so might work with 2mm (1/900). rodlangton.com Also, Veldt has a single pack of buildings in their 1/900 Ramming Speed range veltd.net/ramspeed.htm Paper Terain has 3mm paper buildings. Not the right size, but for the inexpensive price, it might not be a bad thing to check out. link |

man, that is impressive! i alway find that irregular get a lot of undeserved flak. Most of their stuff is actually quite good. If you were looking for sci fi, I know scotia have some in there 6mm range- learned that the hard way. how about gzg? link |

I know this is going to sound pedantic but the 3mm models that are mentioned are by Oddzial Ósmy in Poland , and I am sure John wont mind me mentioning not by Pico who by himself has done a lot to promote 3mm Just trying to give Marcin (Oddzial Ósmy) a bit of credit where its due |

I find that 2mm is a good scale for Pike & Shot period, because the grand scale of the Tercio and the Keil looks best when seen from above at a great height. Even 6mm scale makes it look too spotty. I use Irregular 2mm for DBR games, and Baccus 6mm for everything else. |
