Which Baccus figures would be the best for this? I saw some round hat AWI militia skirmishing;they could be used for the defenders but what about the Mexicans? Napoleonic French?

Napoleonic French will be close but you will be off by about 30 years in uniform design. I know if I were basing off the old Alamo movie, I would probably go with French infantry. But looking on the Internet, this picture is very interesting:

Looks like you will need a mixture of figures to me. I always think of the old John Wayne film but it looks like the uniforms had a great variety than I thought or than is actually displayed at the Alamo diorama itself. Looks like you have a mixture of shako designs and I would guess there was some militia on the Mexican side?

Irregular Napoleonics paint up well. Based on your posts, I am not sure you will be happy with them. You might take a look at what Adler has as well as they seem to have a pretty broad line.
