I was going through my stuff recently, when I ran across my RAFM Soldiers of the Queen figures.
they are kind of hybrid in size, playing equally well with Ral Partha "true 25mm" Zulu War British, and later larger 38mm figures.
I have a nice size force of them, combined with Foundry Zulu war British and Ral Partha buglers, as bugle boys.

But, their true awesomeness comes from the figures themselves. All poses are fantastic, and the sergeants are TOTALLY AWESOME, partcularly the whiskers.

I just thought I would mention that, lest anyone think that all I do around here is slam lame surfboard swords and dumb chainmail bikini armor. grin

Those figures I believe were sculpted by Bob Murch, of Pulp Figures fame. Really great castings, lots of animation. And they are still available from RAFM. I see the boxed sets pop up on eBay for ridiculous amounts, and see even more ridiculous folks bid on them, when they can get the same figs for reasonable prices, and when RAFM runs a sale, they are very cheap!

And the Victorian Adventurers set has some nice poses as well:

And I am not even a sock puppet (but I do like nicely endowed femmes in bikini chainmail armor).

My surfboard sword-wielding, dumb chainmail bikini armor-wearing minis have impressive whiskers as well. Maybe they should meet up?

I got them when they were still part of the Space 1889 range, lovely figures.

Buckeye is correct, Bob Murch was the sculptor of the entire range both British and Martians. I still have the boxed sets around here somewhere. Great miniatures. They were made specifically for Space 1889: Soldiers Companion from GDW.

I've just painted some up. They are great figures, and still available and cheap by today's standards, and still part of the 1889 range. All of the RAFM 1889 range has aged very well.

TOO LATE TO EDIT:

…and later larger 38mm figures.

Obviously, I meant "28mm".
