and oil paints too. I use humbrols and oils for painting horses. Only real complaint is getting the stuff off my hands. Soap and water doesn't get it done. Anyone recommend some alternate hand cleaner for this?

White Spirit.

A trick for any type of paint. Rub a clear liquid hand soap onto your hands like lotion, then when you are done, wash up.
This is especially useful when you are painting a 1:1 scale warship or terrain building!

blowtorch?

Taking fish oil tablets will also help! The oil increases the oils in your skin so the paint comes off easier.

White spirit works for me

I was going to suggest plastic explosives but what about finger nail polish remover.

I have a friend who wears surgical gloves when he paints with oils.

I use Humbrol enamels as primer. Always getting it on my hands, wash off with white spirit. Mrs can't stand the smell so I have taken to wearing surgical/decorating gloves. Problem solved.

Turps – same as you'd use to clean the brushes.

What do you use to clean your brushes? Use that.

I'd avoid white spirit (makes my hands go red) and invest in a tub of swarfega or similar.

Rather worryingly, White spirit gets most off, but washing my hair or making pastry does it perfectly!

I use Humbrol enamels exclusively (I didn't Like the thin coverage of acrylics) and use Mona Liza odorless Paint Thinner (from Michaels) for thinning and cleaning.
