Been a while since the "Redoubt building" post, here's what we're up to now;-

Basically a Lutzenesque game with the 15's over four weeks while we sort out our two day 28mm game at the end of the July – possibly part of Borodino, not certain yet, depends who can make it.

Anyway, have a look at this lot, the game is building right now, bubbling away before really kicking off!

Hope you enjoy it at

maraudermoments.blogspot.co.uk

have fun out there,

JJ

Great looking game!

Good stuff! Was this actually gamed over several weeks in real time or were you talking about game time in your captions? Wish I had the space and luxury to game over several weeks. I don't seem to care for campaigns but it would be great fun to actually play a huge battle like this to a true conclusion. How many actual gaming hours did this take?

Its a very dramatic battle. At 1/20 it could be an awsome game! Look forward to the following reports.

Great looking game. I noticed a Dead Kennedys t shirt on one of the players, watch out for the suede denim secret police :p

wow should be a great battle at the scale and ratio. The table will look awesome once all the reinforcements arrive.

Thanks for the feedback gents – this battle is brewing nicely!

Ancientsgamer: this game is being played over four real time weeks, four or five hours on Thursday nights. Part 1 is the first evening, set up deploy play 5-6 turns. This week we played Part 2, about another 5 turns. Lots more photos and some hefty engagements.

Maxshadow: this is almost 1/20, the battalions are about 30 to 36 strong, the batteries 3,4 or 6 guns but the cavalry are all 12 or 16 models BUT we count them as 24 or 32 respectively.

Ashenduke: they'll come for you and your uncool niece…

The master scale. Very nice.

Hi Paul,
I won't be so promiscuous with the close-ups of the 15mm collection especially having seen your stuff! Our 15mm collection is best seen from "afar", but I'll see what I can do for you, there are a few gems in there.

Bottom Dollar: dunno if 15 is the master scale or not. We are thinking of disposing of the 15s and going 6mm for big games and 28mm for special games. We have a lot but it's almost something and nothing, part of an ongoing muse we have. There's no answer just preference.
Have fun,
JJ

How about the preferred scale? The best scale? God's own scale? Do you throw your miniatures out when you change scales, warpaintjj? Wouldn't it be nice to just settle down and not worry about it? To really go with the flow? You could just drop all that scale flip-flopping stuff, buying, painting, basing, flocking, selling for the next fad to take up the scale with the perfect mean so you can concentrate on having more fun? Of course, you can also settle for "something and nothing".

I have to admit. I have about a 1000 figure bias :)

What was the table size?

Banditto,

the table is 12 x 6 feet. Hope that helps?

Be good,

JJ

Hi JJ,
I'm sure your 15's are cracking in close-up

If you plan on disposing of any AB or BH 15's I know of a couple of friends (as well as myself) who would be interested. Huge table, wish I lived closer.

warpaintjj,

Very nice setup. I have been estimating frontages for various battles for 15mm at 1:60 (where 32" = 1 mile) and I think I'd come up with something roughly 13' for Lutzen so I was just curious what you'd run it at. Sounds about right, would have been pretty cool.

If you guys have an excess amount of unpainted 15mm figures (AB, Old Glory 15s, maybe Battle Honors 15s) I'd give em a good home. Send the painted ones to paulalba ;-)

Cheers,

The Bandit

BIG MISTAKE on my behalf Bandit

- the table is 16 x 6 feet NOT 12 x 6 feet. You are right and did the same sum(ish) re 13 feet but we have the space so I added space behind Starsiedel and to the far end as well which created a little extra mini battle for possession of the bridge so as to influence the centre with fresh troops.

We don't have an excess but may just look at selling the lot for 6mm instead – only the vaguest notion though.

cheerio for now

JJ
