So with 6th Edition everyone is reading and playing some games and are finding out that it does change the game.

So lets consider one of the units that an Eldar players just might go with.

Eldar Warwalkers:

First off they can be dirt cheap even in a Squadron of three.

That this build.

Warwalker, Scatter Laser & Shuriken Cannon. Total points for one is just 50 points and for a Squadron 150 points.

For that you get 21 str 6 shots, 12 at AP 6 and 9 at AP 5.

With Flyers coming to the forefront of many individuals lists this kind of firepower can be deadly.

Back them up with a Farseer and get them some cover and they could become even stronger.

Because 21 str 6 shots that can reroll misses due to Guide can and will shred whatever they shoot at.

Yes they are only Armor Value 10, which is why you need cover for them or they will get shredded.

But for just 150 points it is very hard to find any other unit that could put out this type of firepower.

Plus with they do get charged they will have their Overwatch fire.

So with Flyers & Bikers being a major choice having an unit that has high str and a ton of shots can be very useful.

What a lovely idea. Once it has sold enough Warwalkers, it will be Codexed out of viability.

Ah, another new 40K edition, which means it's time to start min-maxing your favorite armies. See what units the new rules are 'favoring' so you can build your power lists for tournaments and whip those poor sods who don't know how to build their armies. Good times.

Well I do try and think out of the box.

Oh and by the way I should be getting my 3rd Warwalker very soon in the mail from Ebay.

I have will just need to strip it and repaint. Then I will have this squadron. Though I will be using magnetics just in case GW hoses them over.

Now if they would only drop the Dark Reapers down to 20 points per model and allow me to field 10 of them.

Having faced that specific the day after 6th ed was released, I can testify to its effectiveness. Had I not been playing Necrons (my first game as Necrons BTW), my opponent would have destroyed my center. As it was, it stayed even numerically which kept me from an objective, and he even caused the Warrior block to flee for one turn. The Walkers were his MVPs for the battle.

Ah, it is nice to know that it does work.

Actually that list was pretty common in the tournament circles around here in 5th Edition.

I have a distinct memory of fighting against it with my Orks and being shredded to bits by it… until Snikrot charged them from behind and got rid of 4 them and tied for three turns the other 5 (just in time for my Ork Warlord to reach the bastards and finish them!)

Yesterday, my opponent used them against my Blood Angels. They were ripped apart by my two Stormravens and one Baal Predator, in one single turn of shooting. I couldn't use the Stormtalon of the allies detachment I included in the game! I didn't give them the chance to shoot me, as I knew how deadly they are.

I thought squadrons of Warwalkers were always good… The tradeoff I find is that their potential for dealing damage brings too much attention to them, which they can't really cope with for long. As with all vehicles, it's easier to kill them now through glancing hits, but they are nice and cheap so won't be a massive loss.

I've seen Dark Reapers in action in 6th edition- they're much handier too! Fire dragons are also pretty good in the back of a Falcon, now that banshees/scorpions can no longer disembark and assault in the same turn.

Agreed in both counts. Vagabonds aren't bad either. The ability to pick up individual enemies comes handy in order to take out flamethrowers.
