Ive only played old SPI versions of Waterloo and Borodino (both fun enough in their day!). I just picked up a copy of GMT's Waterloo which covers the four main battles of the Hundred Days campaign and looks like good fun.

The purchase made wonder what other fun & playable Nappy games are out there?

The SPI Quad of Waterloo.

'The Great Redoubt' about Bordino by Phoenix Games. i still have it.

I like the Bordino game by SPI.

The Australian version of 'Empire in Arms'.

I truly loved Waddington's "Campaign". Do they still make that ?

SPI's freebie/intro "Napoleon at Waterloo". Still one of my all-time favourite board wargames.

Rudysnelson06 Jul 2012 4:33 p.m. PST

jake i actually loved the game too. later in about 1976, I got the Brigade expansion for the game where you could STACK unit!

I really enjoy Kevin Zucker's latest 1809 quad "The Last Success". The previous 1806-7 quad "The Coming Storm " was no slouch, either.

Napoleon by Columbia is a good classic design of the 100-days.

Napoleon's Triumph is an innovative design on Austerlitz – highly recommended.

Another vote for the SPI freebie Napoleon at Waterloo. They used the same system in a Borodino game I also enjoyed.

For the best Napoleonic tactical gaming series see La Bataille de Preussich-Eylau, La Bataille de Les Quatre Bras, and others from La Bataille series by Clash of Arms. link and link and see The Gamers (now with MMP Multiman Publishing and no new games on the horizon :( ) Napoelonic Brigade series (uses written orders very creative and realistic recommended see link

For Napoleonic Operations see Kevin Zucker's (OSG) CoN x 1 and x 2 series – the best operational napoleonic games available.
CoNx1 (Campaigns of Napoleon first series) link

and Campaigns of Napoleon 2nd series link

There is a Campaigns of Napoleon series 5 currently with one game and sadly oop link second hand copies reaching hundreds of dollars!

Also see Kevin Zucker's Day series (between the CoN operational series and the grand tactical NLB series) such seven Days of 1809.

link

For grand tactical Napoleonics see Kevin Zucker's Napoleon's Last Battles series namely TLS (The Last Success) TCS (The Coming Storm)
link

and link

and try Markus Stumptner's rules versions extend NLB series even more link

I would highly recommend picking up something like Habit of Victory covering the Operational campaigns of 1806 / 1807 and The Coming Storm covering at a grand tactical level the battles of 1806 / 1807. You can then play out the campaign and experience the issues faced by the coalition and the French when campaigning, then move to fighting the battles of Eylau or Friedland, Jena etc…

There are also some very good one off battles like Napoleon's Triumph and Bonaparte at Marengo by Simmons games. link and link

L'Armee du Nord by Clash of Games is a good game for the camapign of Waterloo. link

Oh, lastly Austerlitz by GMT very good game system and a unique way of portraying large units, link

if you cannot get hold of La Bataille Austerlitz by Marshall Enterprises (with current asking price of $1,000 USD+!!!) link

The Clash of Arms version of Napoleon at Leipzig. I have yet to see a more beautiful set of wargame maps in the hobby than are in that game. A great game as well, but the maps are truly works of art.
