I have some RAFM Apaches on foot that I'm considering painting up as Martians and it has me wondering what others are using for VSF battles. Thanks. I'll paint up a few test models and post pictures. Also considering using Peter Pig Egyptians, the old style Pig models that I bought here on TMP. For 25mm skirmish I intend to use GW Kroot and Old Glory Arabs with rifles. 15mm will be for mass battles. |

For Martians and Venusians you have to use Black Hat's figures! Nominally 18mm, but they're GOOD! blackhat.co.uk |

I've been thinking about Khurasan (?) lizardmen. I think Rebel makes a few as well. |

Gotta go with Black hat as well. |

If you're looking for 15mm Space 1889 stuff (as your other thread appears to indicate) you want Highlander Studios. Rafm's 1889 stuff is all 25-28mm. |

I have found that various ancients and early Americans make for good stand-ins for Martians with little or no conversion. I have experimented with using Native Americans from various manufacturers painted as Martians. This has worked well. I've seen Egyptians, Sea Peoples, and other ancients type figures used. Really, as long as they are without facial hair and suitably partially clad they seem to work well. -Eli |

I've some old Battlesystem Elves that were done by the same sculptor, but haven't fixed them up as S1889 Martians yet. Has anyone done Tharks yet? For 25mm skirmish I intend to use GW Kroot
Also, has anyone done good 'parrotmen' yet? Haven't a clue what to do with the Giff. *sigh* Doug Edit: Whoops, forgot to mention I'm developing a hankering for some civilized cephlapods I've seen recently, but can't recall the name. Doug |

Martians, use either Black Hat (I love them) or Highlander's evolving line of Space 1889 minis. For Venusian Lizardmen, I have a couple of different Khurasan figures: the lizardmen, the salamanders, and the crocodile knights. You can use GW skinks as well, though they will be big for 15mm. Hydra makes a neat 30mm anthro-ceratopsian with a spear, too. Again, big. Still looking for parrotmen. Sigh

That might also be Black Hat grin Right-o; watched with some interest in the development, and was trying to recall the sculptor's name/nick. Took awhile to 'grow' on me, though. Doug |

If anyone ever makes them like this, I would buy a bunch of them: TMP link Dan |
