Has anyone here bought any of those boxes of HO/OO scale model railway trees made in Hong Kong and sold on Ebay? Trader has a good rating and stuff; I'm more worried about whether customs will be a pain about having to pay import duty on them and whether the trees actually make it through being kicked around by both the post office AND customs intact? {I'm after them just to pad out my forests a bit. Got fed up of assembling WS ones}. Anyone any opinions? |

Yep.. bought several batches. Never had any issues of custom fees, unless you are ordering a significant number, the odd pack or two should not get taxed. I have only had one packet never arrive out of ten or more ordered over a few months. The chap sent a second pack which I got. I would order a couple at most nd see how you like them. |

I beleive there are sever sellers so unsure of he exact one you are looking at. But, I have made 2 large orders of those twisted wire/flocked trees from China and received them within 2 weeks both times in good shape with no hassles or import duties. Don't remember the seller name offhand. If you like I could look it up when I get home. I think they look great for the price but be prepared to spend some time with them as they flatten the limbs to get more in the box. So you'll have to bend the branches with a hobby knife or something to fluff out the trees again. It's pretty easy and quick. Overall I like them and for the price they nice if you needs LOTS of trees. |

Ooops! I did not see you were in the UK. I'm in the US so the duties will probably be different! |

I was looking at the ones from "everestmodel", 14,000 trades with 99.9% positives. Which I figure is enough. auction "So you'll have to bend the branches with a hobby knife or something to fluff out the trees again."
That's probably OK. I'm figuring I'll have to base them anyway. "for the price they nice if you needs LOTS of trees." Current projects; skirmish scale during WW2 and medieval. So, yeah, I need a lot of trees. I just don't have time to make this stuff any more. I made test bits of bocage two years ago now and still haven't started the main production run. I actually just got a big stack of the javis dry-stone walling; comes painted, based, flocked and ready to surround things
Brilliant. Need more of those sorts of solutions. |

I bought about $50 USD worth of palm trees from China via eBay, got them fast and they were exactly what I wanted. I'll likely order again as they're the best palms for the money i've come across. I used this seller: auction |

I've also bought trees from Everest Models via Ebay. No issues getting them to Canada, whatsoever. Keep in mind it can take a long time for them to get through, but they do get through without issue (takes about 4-6 weeks every time I order any). |

I too bought trees from Everest Models via Ebay. I bought about 400 in total and will, at some point, buy 400 more. They look great on the table. Well worth it. |

Well, I was thinking of getting a selection between 3" (18 ft) and 9" (50ft) – Really trees should be even bigger than that, but that's a compromise between decent scaling and practicality. Apart from anything else, bases on 16" (100 foot) trees are going to start being too big to work on the table. |

Katie, yes those are the same trees I picked up but the seller was listed as CNMODELNT. They even have the exact same codes for the trees. I'd definately recommend these guys. One more thing I'd reccomend is give the trunks a quick coat of varnish. While I was straightening out the limbs I showed my daughter and told her I was fluffing them out. Once she heard the word fluff she smiled and began rolling them in her hands to spin them while repeatedly saying FLUFF! LOL some of the paint came off and allowed the silver wire to show through. |
