Being dense here trying to figure out plume color for Polish Legion 1796+. The Northstar painting guide says that Fusilier plumes = blue/red/white for 1st Bn Grenadier plumes = red Chasseur plumes = green But then it says there are 10 companies, 1x grenadier, then remainder "Chasseurs". So where are the Fusiliers? |

From La Cronaca Rovatti
. but I am not seeing plumes until adoption of the tsapska in about 1800 (i.e. none on the infantry conderatka previously worn):

Serogas information is excellent as usual, I may add les colours des plumes de l'infanterie suivant l'ordre du général Kniaziewicz en date du 17 nivôse an VIII (7 janvier 1800) p. 64, L'Armée de Napoléon – Uniformes du 1er Empire 1792 – 1815 plates by Domange, Text by Alfred Umhey the full set of plumes is illustrated there. In case of interest I could do a photo of the Hoffmann plate. Another contemporary plate by Nicolas Hoffmann shows a legionary of the danube – grenadier – with a horsehair plume it would by also a good idea to check Guy Dempseys marvellous Napoleons Mercenaries. |

@von Winterfeldt Superb! (as always!) I did not know that L'Armée de Napoléon – Uniformes du 1er Empire had text by Mr. Umhey. I will need to get it, I think. Thank you! Guy Dempsey is quite good on the various later Légions. But I think the question is about the initial Légions – ordered in 1796, formed 1797, 1 surrendered at Mantua, the other with substantial combat losses, re-organized in 1800. Overview

. Histoire des légions polonaises en Italie, sous le commandement du général Dombrowski Léonard Chodźko Paris : J. Barbezat, 1829. link link I suppose we could ask our colleague to confirm exactly which unit(s) and year(s) he is building. |

@Seroga Most of the text of is from the plates of Dommange, A. Umhey added some text – the book is ok – despite Dommange is very inexact about his sources and composes from different sources some new ones – still very nice artistical skill. |
