Truscott Trotter05 Jul 2012 4:40 p.m. PST

Cheapest are Gamming models followed by Plastic Soldier Company and Forged in Battle

WOW

Thanks…I had no idea that this scale could be had for a reasonable price and there is a good variety between those 3 vendors.

Zvezda tanks for EW eastern front as well

Dynaman878905 Jul 2012 6:59 p.m. PST

Least expensive is command decision sold by warweb. They are under old glory.

Command Decision are pretty good. Especially if you want to build a large force quickly.

I always thought ours were reasonably priced….

Dynaman878906 Jul 2012 3:43 a.m. PST

Warweb's Command Decision 40% discount appears to have gone AWOL with the server update yesterday. Still a decent price but no better then any other line now though. Hopefully it is just a glitch.

6GBP for most of the tanks in the QRF range is ~$9.50 right now. Not an unreasonable price, particularly for the quality (and fast service!). Just wish the Royal Mail wasn't so extortionate in shipping middling-large quantities of metal.

I really wish PSC would do trucks. You need a completely ridiculous number of trucks for any force, and they're just too freaking expensive to buy in metal or resin.

Zvezda does trucks for Soviets and Germans for peanuts….

If price is a priority do 10mm instead of 15mm. It's usually about 1/3rd the price (sometimes much more) – you can save an absolute fortune.

Battlefront KFz70 (though for some reason they call it a Kfz15) two for £13.00 GBP

Pendraken Kfz 70s, 2 for £2.05 GBP. OK, they don't have passengers, but they're less than one sixth of the price.

Most CD tanks packs come in 3s for 17.00 GBP- just under 6 quid a tank Bigger ones are more exspensive- Tigers etc- The range is pretty huge in the region of 400 packs give or takeplus the slightly more exspenive True North range which cater for many of the smaller combatants Dutch Belgian and Hungarians for example. and you can get around 50 different aircrsaft in the same scale too in the Lil'flyin' Fokkers range.

$9 USD US a tank is a bit too much for me, but there are other options in 15mm that seem to be in the $5 USD-7 dollar range which is a bit more reasonable.

I still need to decide on 10/12mm or 15mm

Thanks everyone!

Oh, cool!

Now, just need to prod someone to do American deuce-and-a-halfs.

Do Gamming Models include turrents?

Johny Boy Supporting Member of TMP08 Jul 2012 6:44 a.m. PST

If you want to go the metal route, highly recommend Skytrex, QRF and Peter Pig, together these ranges represent just about everything you might need in 15mm at a reasonable price.

Thanks to you all for the information.

After going to a semi-local shop and seeing 15mm all painted up there is just NO WAY I can have a nice sized fight with this scale, and it's just too expensive. $10 USD a tank is crazy :)

I'm going with 10/12mm. Price is more my cup o' tea and I can field a much larger force than I could with 15mm as my table isn't much bigger than 5'x3'

Thanks again!

My armor is from Gaming Models. They do come with turrets and the pictures on the site do the models no justice. They are only $5 USD each and come assembled with a basic paintjob. Plus if you buy 10 he'll throw in another one for free.

I'm sure for $5 USD they look ok, but from what I've seen and read some of the molds are a hit or miss.

Like I said, it's more an issue of size. 15mm is just too big for my table AND most of the 10/12mm looks better than the gaming models.

Captain Crunch Supporting Member of TMP08 Jul 2012 8:05 p.m. PST

Fair enough. I haven't seen Pendraken's WW2 stuff but I recently got a bunch of their ACW and it is very nice. Crisp figures that need little or no prep work and nicely detailed. I would suggest starting there.

Actually, after reading all your comments and various other threads and sites I've decided to go with 10/12mm and these brands…

vehicles….Wargames South, Minifigs & Pithead and the various 1/144 plastic pre-paints

infanty….Minifigs & Pendraken

Roger56 Inactive Member03 Apr 2013 1:40 p.m. PST

Pendraken. I have some samples of their 10mm that look fine even paintable. But the question as always is what will you pay. There is the exchange rate, the royal mail charges and who knows when they will ship and what the exchange rate will be that day. So nthe owner might come on and tell us to shooy a message to someone whose logo is Yosemite Sam with a Harold Foster style Viking helmet who has to special order and then tell you the price. I'd like to know the price, period.

Anyone else seeing a trend here?

Fred Cartwright04 Apr 2013 6:56 a.m. PST

Yes I can hear the sound of axes being ground. :-)

madaxeman04 Apr 2013 11:43 a.m. PST

If you are thinking of 10mm WW2 there's some reasonably useful stuff on my site at madaxeman.com to help you compare manufacturers etc

Just look for the "10mm" menu button at the top
