Why the heck does it take soooo loooong to get the rules? Been waiting since May for our sets to get here from the UK. Ridiculous. ;) |

The rules are easy to get, it's the pricey dice that are rare as hens teeth. |

I believe they were waiting for a restock. |

The saga of the saga dice is an utter embarrassment for Gripping Beast in my opinion. Been waiting months to get some. There are tons of plastic mouldings companies out there who could turn around a million of them in a month, so I'm not sure if it's a scarcity tactic gone horribly wrong or total ineptitude. You don't need to buy the dice, go to eBay and buy a pack of blanks and then download the page from the studiotomahawk forum page and print. Either copy in indelible marker pen onto dice or print off and stick on, preferably after laminating. Takes a little bit of time but saves you about £10.00 GBP and gets you playing. Alternatively there is a page in the back of the rules explaining how you can use ordinary D6 to play and just convert nos 1,2,3 to one symbol, 4,5 to another and 6 for thelast. |

The dice from hell. It took four months to get my dice. Got blank dice and in the process of making my own. Great game but the dice are a pain.. If you want to use blank dice here is a link to a company that makes them with excellent service: blankdice.co.uk |

Twilight Samurai, perhaps you could advise the OP on where to get the rules? |

Here is where I buy my saga item from in England. They provide fast service. And usually have anything I need in stock include dice. They have an ebay store front auction |

Alternatively there is a page in the back of the rules explaining how you can use ordinary D6 to play and just convert nos 1,2,3 to one symbol, 4,5 to another and 6 for thelast. That. Paying extra (and maybe waiting for ages) for fancy dice is just not going to happen. |

So great are the rules, apparently, that people will put up with such a forced rarity that matches only the "collectible" card and minis games in style. |

And to think I was almost contemplating buying Saga. Didn't realize you need special dice. |

You do not need special dice! The game is perfectly playable with ordinary six sided dice. |

Here's the irony: I got dice from Architects of War within about 3 weeks of putting in an order. We are still waiting for the order my buddy placed for two rulebooks from the UK. And it's not a mail delay, the order has yet to go out. I think it was with Maelstrom. Seriously, print the books (and dice) faster, GB. Worst thing for a good game is a terrible restocking schedule. (and, agree, it is 100% playable with generic dice. Run a google search for viking battleboard and you'll find an image of one a guy mocked up using the pips vs. the special dice icons). |

Anyone with heroquest dice can proxy those,I received my two books in Vancouver,Canada in about ten or eleven days.I was very happy at the alacrity of response and you don't need special dice;they just look nice. |

Alternatively there is a page in the back of the rules explaining how you can use ordinary D6 to play and just convert nos 1,2,3 to one symbol, 4,5 to another and 6 for thelast. What they should have done is printed the battle boards two-sided, with standard D6 symbols on one side. |

And to think I was almost contemplating buying Saga. Didn't realize you need special dice. Have you read any reviews ? I'm not sure how you can miss the fact that you need special dice. Yes, you can play with normal D6s, but you would be constantly having to think about what numbers match which symbol. I wouldn't want to do it. But as has been said above, you can make your own. I made the full four sets for about £11.00 GBP IIRC. Here's what they look like :

Or just scan in a BB, throw some D6 icons over the dice pictures, and have fun. The dice are easy to translate over to d6, as the '6' facing is the 'special' icon (have no idea the name, still waiting on my rules, remember
lol). Then just extrapolate the layout from there. Someone had posted about them on the GB forums, but I can't find it now. I have the d6 plotted jpg for the Vikings (of course, now I have the dice so I don't need it
lol). |

I can understand frustration on wargames, but why on DICE of all things? Shipping problems on products, valid complaint. But why is everyone hellbent on getting this dice? |
| Surferdude | 06 Jul 2012 12:53 p.m. PST |
We played with normal dice for ages and ages before making our own – makes no difference at all really. Can't understand why companies are slow at shipping as the restock of rules was ages ago. Not GB's fault at all. |

The Saga of SAGA continues. My buddy found out that now our local FLGS CAN Get SAGA in through Northwind(?). They placed an order and some stock arrived today (apparently their order was shorted)
Two copies of the rulebook made it to California! Score, right?! Nope. Both went into the crate they're taking to Historicon. DENIED! |
