I can't help but ask the dumb question: Is it possible to purchase a specific, individual Foundry figure in a quantity of 30-40, or are their 8-figure blister packs the lowest common denominator, and that's it?….
Thanks!

I don't know if there are any packs of the same individual figure but they do have regiment deals where you get about 35-40 figs to build a regiment. They aren't all the same figure and they include command and so forth.

They also have their triple packs where you get three of the same pack for a slightly lower price.

I only see in the World of the Greeks they have hoplites, 8 of them per pack. They also have a sinular Hercules figure.

If you can make it to their shop they used to have bins of single figures that you can pick through, or so the legend goes (I've never actually made the pilgrimage to Nottingham.)

Now that they are posting their "contrition" about poor pricing and other mistakes; I'd call them and ask for the favor in light of their "new vision".

All they can do is say no.

Back years ago we could get individual figures from the US representative.

Thanks folks- Yes, I remember back when they 1st began you could order indiviual figures by catalogue number….Guess a pilgrimmage across the pond is in order….

Blister packs are supposedly set up so one spin per mold gives you the whole pack.
What you ask for would require 30-40 spins, with 280 minimum wste figutres to throw back in the pot.

Like they said above, you can always ask, but you would pay a premium price if it were done.
The major component of a figure's cost is not necessarily the metal, but probably the labor.

good luck!

I used to be able to visit the foundry of Foundry. If the figures you wanted weren't available and they weren't too busy they would cast them for you there and then. This was late 90's.

Having seen this happen, it doesn't actually take very long – just a couple of minutes – Hot Figures!

John might well be correct – unless the mold is in fact multiple copies of the same figure, which I understand happens sometimes.

I'd go along with the 'ask nicely' advice – you won't be the first or last to try it on, and if it were part of a larger order…

That's the thing with production molds – do you put one figure pose per mold x 14-15 or however many it can handle or do you put 3 figures x 5 to fill the mold? Or 15 different figures?

I heard the same thing as John which could mean they use small molds or maybe they have to identical sets on a 9" mold. The problem is sometimes a figure or two doesn't come out and then, if it is part of the set, you have to spin the mold again to get those figures, which then leaves you with extras of the others…

which you can remelt, of course, but then each spin adds wear to the mold.

I always assumed the legendary bins at the Foundry shop were extras from their production runs.

At UK shows the great Dave Thomas has a tray of foundry "odds" (or at least he used to),sold each one for a £1.00 GBP Very very useful.

The vast majority of Foundry's moulds are "One complete set Per mould" (or two per mould, depending).

I recall this from the day I spent as an assistant caster with the burly, incomprehensible ex-miner Angus at the old Foundry factory in 1999.

So, unless you actually want one of the few "All same figure" sets, the answer would almost certainly be "Not possible". Even if there's a new policy of treating the customer nicely (which was the case pre-2000 or thereabouts)

The old bins have long gone unfortunately. Molds are now geared to fill the blister pack. Not sure how they would work around it although it may be worth emailing them – they appear to in a state of change………….

For all the bad things said about Foundry, I've had good service from them. I specially requested the cherubs from the Elf Nymphs range (you could only get them randomly in several different packs) and they set me up with a full set of cherubs. Shortly thereafter they released them in their own packs on the store, so they might have been planning it all along. :)
