Greetings once again, gentlemen, Does anyone have any experience with these? They are flag decals that are supposed to be stuck to paper first to make a flag. The supposed advantage is crisper detail and more vibrant color, but I can neither confirm nor deny that these claims are true, because I haven't gotten up the courage to try them out. To me it seems a fiddly way of doing things. I believe that this system is also employed by some other company, but I'm not sure which at this point. I have questions like how easy is it to get a transfer to stick to paper, what sort of paper works best, are there any tricks/traps involved, etc. In short I'd like to go into experimenting with them with as much foreknowledge as I can gather before I screw them up. Thanks for any help you can provide! Mark |

I believe some of their flags are from LBMS, I am not sure how many of the Napoleonic flags are transfers. I just did my first transfer from LBMS last week for a SAGA unit. It was easier then I thought. I painted some household tinfoil white. Pealed off the backing of the transfer and then stuck it on the tinfoil. Then cut it out and stuck it to the pole. I was able to manipulate the flag better then a paper flag because of the tinfoil. If I was going to do it again, I would use a thicker tinfoil.
I like Flagdude flags as they come all done, but if I had to chose another brand I think I would go with the transfer, as they appear colour fast and are easier to manipulate.

I put mine on painted foli – very easy if you read the instructions and think about it first
.. I stuffed up one and forgot to paint the foil and now have a very glittery yellow flag leading a regiment into battle – very disco. My foible aside, they are very good and top off a unit wonderfully. |

I am starting a Welsh warband for SAGA and have the Gripping Beast banner made by LBMS. I have been wondering about the backing and was contemplating using Verlinden Lead foil. Has anyone had experience with this medium? Also, if one uses lead foil or tinfoil, what is the best adhesive to use as you wrap the foil around the pole? Thanks, CA |

I think these are the best on the market at the moment. As a 'Pro-Painter' I use them whenever I can. Method – Use 'Dope-heads' size Fag paper, paint it a really pale cream colour, not white! Place the flags on the painted paper as per instructions, I use Unibond to glue the flags together, nip the outer edge together and allow to dry for a couple of minutes, then close up the remainder of the flag. Allow to dry for about 5 minutes then crinkle it up a few times as it drys then varnish |
