Has anyone gamed this battle? Either the capture or the holding of the bridge? Was wondering the strength of the American forces. I do not know the original German strength. I understand that when the Germans counterattacked with the French tanks they had about 200 infantry. I did find a Flames of War Scenerio. The problem is I do not play the rules and I did not understand the strength of the units. Thanks, 7th Cav

Have you read "No Better Place to Die"? It is a really good reference and description of the battle. I am working on doing this game. I am doing it in 28mm, and going to scale down the infantry. I have the 3 R-35s painted up and I am planning on having 2 platoons of German Infantry attacking. Defending, I will have 2 Bazooka sections at the end of the causeway, a 57mm AT section with a .30 in support. From there I will probably start with 2 Para Squads and roll reinforcements for the para's. That way the Germans will have impetus to push the attack early. Nor sure how well it will play as the attack is coming from a very narrow axis and depending on the rules it could be easy to defend with minimal forces.

Let me know how it works for you,
Chris

Skirmish Campaigns has a great campaign built around this action. It's in the Normandy: First Hours book:

can you point to the scenario?

I did play a FOW one, with two platoons of US paratroopers if I remember well, a german garrison and a german armored reinforcement made of captured tanks + infantry.

I believe the forces were similar to those at Neuville-au-Plein, a German grenadier company with weapons platoon reinforced with a tank platoon vs a platoon-ish of US paras.

The Skirmish Campaigns scenarios often have the OBs bathtubbed out of all recognition.

I found a lot online about this battle. Can't seem to locate the links in my bookmarks but they must be there. 'No better spot to die' looks like a good book to get hold of.

Movie coming soonish – hope they don't make a total 'SPR' up of it.

The TooFat Lardies scenario booklet "All American: The 82nd Airborne 6th-9th June 1944" has 5 scenarios in it dealing with this battle.
