Finally got around to unpacking the last few boxes after I moved into my house 14 years ago, and found half a dozen or so of the old Citadel paints that were about 10 years old when I boxed them up. Most of them were hard as concrete, but one, Orc Brown, better sealed than the others, still seems to be fine. It seperated out, but after a vigorous mix seems to be ok. I haven't painted with it yet, but am interested to see how it covers. |

Amazing isn't it? I have had the same experience. I have several bottles in a variety of colors still going strong. But there is not a pot I have bought in the last two years that hasn't dried out

Indeed, I have a couple of other pots from the same batch that I've had to help along th a few drops of medium from time to time – mostly less used colours like purple and orange that don't get out much. I seem to recall that the old Citadel paints are now produced by somone else? P3 or Coat d'arms maybe? |

I still use flip top paints from my original super mega paint deal. They last and last

I still use ink from the original Citadel Ink set (somewhere from 1987 or something) packed in little bottles. Quickly used up the black and brown but the other colors are still used from time to time. |

I have some Citadel paints that are around the same age and they are still going, in fact I believe their consistency/coverage ratio is just about right by now. |

Can old paints be re-animated by putting them in an ultra sonic cleaner? I am sure someone mentioned this and managed to get old semi-dried paints to be useful again. |

I tried to ultrasonic a bottle of the old Tin Bitz, but had better luck stirring it for a while. Those old bottles last forever (as long as the caps don't go brittle.) I even recycle the bottles to use for other paints I want to keep

Yep, I still routinely use my old 'Citidel Colours' paint sets. The quality is still fantastic.. better than that hideous screw cap phase.. |

The old flesh wash is still a staple of mine – now sadly almost gone. Useful for so many things – over a white base coat it gave a decent impression of wood for instance. I'll have to check out P3 to see if I can match it up. Is there a conversion chart anywhere from old GW to new P3? I also have a rapid painted army of zombies with sunburst yellow flesh with the old Citadel green wash over the top. The combination of sallow yellow flesh with green tinges is actually quite effective. |

Yep, I still have stuff going from 22+ years ago, especially all their nice metallic colours. :-) |

we shall not see their like again
. I still have a bottle or two from the dim past and a few inks from the expert set. Half the foundation paints I bought when they came out are like rocks.. |

Hi I came accross an unused 15-20 year old Citadel matt varnish aerosol a while back (the LARGE can) – I will probably give it a try this summer as I have several hunderd 15mm Naps to varnish. I think I will test it out on something less important first though
