Anyone have any information on the differences in dress? My impression is that Syrians liked bright colors
not much more to go on. |

Check out the 'Armies of the Ancient Near East' by Tallis and Stillman. Most Middle eastern ancient uniform/clothing details come from depictions of conquered races on fresco's etc from Egypt, Assyria and Persia, and hairstyle, skin colour depiction plays a large part in identifying nationality |

My thoughts are the shorter kilt was more favoured among Cannannites closer to coast as further inland Syrian long robes evident. However allies banded together making long and short robes possible in armies. probably no real differences inreality then but I still call long robes Syrians. Colours for all were sometimes white with bands of colour fringes etc. I have seen multi colour robes and assume these to be higher class warriors. |
