I have decided to start up a second blog to chart my attemnpt to collect and paint 15mm figures to play Cry Havoc with, along with the resultant games. You can take a look here:

Thanks!

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

If you opted for 25/28mm, you can still get some figures based on the Cry Havoc counter illustrations from Magister Militum, in their Fantasy range.

Awesome – likewise very interested in how you approash this.

Ferbs/Alex: Thanks. I'm curious as to how this will turn out myself!

drusty: Appreciate the tip, but I am opting to stay clear of 25/28mm in this case, for reasons too numerous and boring to go into now…

Chris,
Good luck with this. I did the same years ago in 15mm using Minifigs riders with Naismith horses. I ended up selling them to a friend (I wish i didn't). I kept all the games and boards though.

And I believe you are partly my inspiration! I read an old thread not so long ago in which you mentioned this… prompted me to get my act together and make a go of it myself!

Looking forward to following your blog as I've just started down the 28mm path myself.

Chris,
Best of luck with this. I went way beyond the number of knights vs the game, and used the basics values to attached to each new figures. We used the Barons war scenario from one of the scenario books that came out for Cry Havoc. Where you have 4 to 6 small armies that have different goals within a war. Played this quite a bit and was a great convention game.

I did keep enough unpainted figures to resurect the project again though. :0)

But, not until I finish off my Naps.

Very Interesting ! I have the original 15mm Cry Havoc minis. Just need to finish to paint the Knights.

My long term plan, once I have completed figures for the counters is to move beyond that number with 'generic' types. I'd like to play through the Outremer campaign or the 'Robin Hood' one from a scenario book and will probably want to use figures without the stats on their bases and track the information on a reference sheet. Makes sense to do it this way for games where the values can change.

Good luck with your Naps!

I'm anserwing here about the essex miniatures. MID75 has static spearmen with no shield. MID73 has billmen who can can be converted easily into spearmen.

I wish I had images of my 15mm figures, the knights & Men @ Arms, totaled around 60 mounted and 60 dismounted with 350 archers, billmen, spearmen, etc, all painted in each Barons livery.

Allot of conversions as the dismounted knights didn't have the all different helms the mounted ones did. The pride of my collection was Sir Jeff Urquart 3 boars heads painted on the shield, surcoat, and on the horse, all free hand in 15mm. I actually gave that one to my friend who goes by the same name.

When I sold them to my other friend, I gave him a call to let him know I was willing to part with them, He showed up 20 minutes later with a check in his hand, to make sure I didn't change my mind.
