link By Carl van Doren. "an account of the conspiracies of Benedict Arnold and numerous others, drawn from the Secret service papers of the British headquarters in North America, now for the first time examined and made public " Lurid title, but a fine distillation on what went on behind the scenes. It has perhaps the most complete story of Benedict Arnold's betrayal, and a few other odd birds like Benjamin church, Ethan Allen, etc. It is available cheap from the usual used book dealers. |

John, You might also like "Unlikely Allies" by Joel Paul. I picked up acopy for 25% of list. It has spies, liars, heroes, playwriters, and cross-dressers, i.e. something for everyone. |

I picked this up in the 70's. It's been too long for me to remember the details but it was very thorough, a little dry at times and a long book. It was worth buying. Thanks, John |

Have these secrets just been released? Now that was a long period for the authorities to keep under wraps. |

I think you are right, John. It's still a great piece of scholarship. |
