Bill (the Esteemed Editor of TMP, of course) says in This Thread: TMP]TMP link
Also, I don't think there's a consensus on which direction my bias is, as I get feedback from people telling me that I'm too liberal as well as too conservative! Based off this thread: TMP linkAs a Green (Economic Left/Right: -7.12 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.08) politicalcompass.org I tend to think of Bill as just slightly Right of center (and that is the USA's 'center'', which is considerably right of the world's, which is Fine, BTW) So what Do You Think
.? Does Bill's Political Bias show through in TMP's editorial Policies
? 1) Bill's a Fascist, and darn Proud of it!
2) Bill's Far Right, and he Thinks of the Children! 3) Bill's Comfortably Conservative, and Proudly right. 4) Bill's leaning Right, but not enough to fight about it
5) Bill's a Centrist, w/ maybe a few conservative biases 6) Right or Left misses the point: Bill's Proudly libertarian!! 7) Bill's so apolitical, his car doesn't have Turn signals!! 8) Bill's a radical Centrist! 9) Right or Left misses the point: Bill's Populist Consensus is only rational! 10 )Bill's a Centrist, w/ maybe a few liberal biases 12) Bill leans Left, butt just for the Hippie Chicks! 13) Bill's Happily Left, and Perfectly progressive in every way! 11) Bill's a Socialist, and you should be Too!! 12) Comrade Bill!!! Please Notice!!!
This Poll is _not_ about Bill's Politics per se, (which should remain deliberatly obfuscated, or supposedly so
) but Rather the perception of the editorial spin here on TMP: There is no right or wrong (or Right or Left!!) for this Poll, only your Perception !!! Let us all try to keep emotionalism to the Fezz, where it mostly Works! |

I know we play with toy soldiers but I think it's time to grow up. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, emotions, politics and belief systems. That you have them is great and expected, and it's understood that these factor into your social interactions. We bring ourselves where ever we go. Fine. This is a Hobby Site. In fact, this is Bill's Hobby Site. We're guests here, invited to discuss hobby-related news and information. No one is demanding we recant deeply cherished beliefs or check our brain at the door; simply that we focus on the relevant subject. This is a sign of maturity. And tolerance. Bill has every right to run TMP according to his convictions. It's his house. It's time to agree to disagree and stop getting your knickers in a twist every time someone – including Bill – doesn't conform to your expectations. Especially on controversial/personal issues. Bill has provided the Blue Fez for controversial topics, not to mention the vast multitude of other sites/forums dedicated to various stances on said issues. Go to them if you're interested in debating these subjects. Please. |

As I remember, all this stuff started over Bill sending someone to the dawghouse. It's not like whomever was sent to Siberia, or Gitmo. The poor, poor soul can still access this site and learn many things regarding a hobby. He just can't post comments for awhile. As to the Editors political beliefs, they're his. He has a right to them. |

Lotsa upset folks on this one, which suprises me since most folks caught the humor in the sister poll: TMP link No one is demanding we recant deeply cherished beliefs or check our brain at the door; simply that we focus on the relevant subject. This is a sign of maturity. And tolerance. 1st sentence is debateable. Second sentence I heartily agree with. Last sentence frag exactly 'What is At Issue'. As I said in the original provocative Thread: TMP link
The majority of TMP'ers (and miniature hobbyists in general, it must be said) {appear to be} center/right to right, as is our dear Bill. Therefore, the pool seems clear & clean to the majority swimming in it.Only those few center/left to left (and extreme right, to be sure!) will notice the occasional 'baby ruth' bar floating by. No point in pointing it out, because its unnoticeable by the majority, and unobjectionable to Bill.
Bill has Blind Spots, but they happen to align w/the majority of TMP'ers.
Put Another Way: Some of Us needs must be extremely Tolerant, because some of Us are editorially 'Extremely Tolerated' (if you catch my meaning), Likewise: Some of us most be Extremely Mature, becuase some of us are Blissfully Tolerated Provacateurs {Yes I am aware: Kettle->Black! However: Bill Himself has said, repeatedly, that this was completely acceptable. "Bill's House, Bill's Rules" I don't disagree with you at all. I'm just stating it for consistency's sake. In my own experience, I've found that Bill interprets polls and personal attacks in a very, umm, "personal" fashion. ;) |
Volstagg Vanir | 17 Jun 2012 6:27 p.m. PST |
You can call politics football, but it is still politics. Not according to Bill's Rules: Can I discuss politics here? Recent politics are not allowed. [POLITICS RULE] Discussion of political events more than 10 years in the past is allowed. (The Editor will be the final judge ) TMP linkAs this has been interpreted in the Past, this walks the line, but should be legal (that is: No 'Event' is being discussed per se). If I'm Wrong? send my Mail to the DawgHouse. I worked hard for it BUT!! I still think it was worth the hair-splitting effort
Since Bill has commented on this issue:
I'm somewhat ambidextrous. Yes, really. I take it that "He Hath Judged!" BTW: I consider Football to be -extremely- Political

And of course you have to account for the inherent national bias, by which standards, 95% of people outside the US would count as socialists by US standards.. like expecting our society to ensure decent health-care, a reasonable standard of education, and not letting the oligarchs run everything to their own benefit

Indeed, Scorpio. There being a profound lack of any snese of humor regarding politics hereabouts, I would think it was a subject not to be broached. Although t's odd that while one can be "Dawghoused" for making a political joke, the FAQ about the Dawghouse admonishes: "Don't take it so seriously, dude." Yet, a harmless joke is taken seriously enough to land one in it. |
