Hay y'all, I've got some of the Mongoose Star Fleet miniatures, and was wondering who makes some good merchant vessels to go along with them. The ADB designed ones seem way to small compared to the warships. So, I'm looking for some in the 3 -5 inch range ( that's 75 – 125mm for you metric football fans). Thanks! Hal |

Ground Zero Games makes some decent ones. |

Along with the GZG ones, Brigade Models make some very nice ones. However, only one is in the 60+mm range (the majority are ~40+) so they would appear to be right out. Still, they are worth perusing (and many hulls come in armed freighter variations to boot) if you find you do need some smaller ones. |

The Brigade Models ones are nice. You can get a look at the Brigade Models Merchant ships here |

The Civilians set for Firestorm Armada might be worth a look, and the Kallistra ships line has a couple big ships as well. |

Thanks a lot guys! I like the look of the GZG ones, and I think one of the local stores might still have some Firestoem Armada figures hanging around. I'll have to take a look this weekend. Thanks again! Hal |

GZG makes great minis and the service is top notch! Also, don't dismiss some minis because they're packaged as warships. A number of the Firestorm ships make good merchant ships even though marketed as warships. |

? Most of the Firestorm ships have obvious guns and lots of them, the main exception being the Aquan fleet – and the actual civilians, of course. You might also take a look at Monday Knight's Galactic Knights range. IIRC every fleet has a transport, which are fair-sized and (unlike the rest of the minis) not covered in turrets. You might also find some stuff at Studio Bergstrom's site – some of his bigger ships aren't all that obviously armed. |

Stardate: 3000 would make good civilians for SFB, and they're still in production. In my games, I use those and Star Frontiers (out of production, but show up pretty frequently on ebay) minis as civilians: link |

He's looking for ships big enough to work well with Mongoose's much larger ACTA ships, not the SFB range. Valiant's figs would be awfully small for the job. |

I think some of the larger Valiant ship classes would fit the bill. |

I made my freighters using some superstructures from dollar store aircraft carriers, small plastic tubes, and some various wooden and plastic bits. They are currently in storage. When I finally get timne and room to get them out, they are going to get primed and painted as "Yellow Freight Interstellar Carriers" like the Yellow Freight trucks. |

Stardate:3000 = Valiant, right? I find them a bit thin and spindly for cargo carriers, though I CAN spin a rational for just about anything. ;->= Cargo ships are definitely a niche you can fill with fairly simple DIY. SFB freighters are little more than rounded tubes with engines strapped on. And some of the lumpy mini water pistols I've been touting would do as well. And I didn't even mention disposable razor handles. ;->= What? D'oh! Doug |

Kitbashing is your friend! You'd be amazed what sort of starships can be built out of empty deodorant containers, plastic candy containers, prescription pill bottles: link Hope this helps!
