What companies make scary trees to add atmosphere to a horror game? So far I've found GW/Citadel's woods, especially if you leave the leaves off. link The spider tree that comes as part of the base decoration from GW's Arachnarok model link The tree that came with the Horrorclix base starter set
& 1 other that I've seen but can't find how that I think was called the Blood Tree & cost about $30. USD Any others out there? Thanks |

I dunno how scary they are, but I use empty Woodland Scenics tree armatures to represent dead trees. Check out this pic. You can twist and bend the armatures to make creepy shapes.

James Hakola (Mr. Dandy) recently sculpted one that is out of this world. I think it will be cast soon. mrdandy.com |

Give Eureka's wood trolls a look. You'll need to modify the base to be a single trunk rather than split legs, but otherwise they could easily just be scary trees. link Also, look for Halloween Village display trees from Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and the like. |

Architects of War have a couple that might be suitable via their new "Alien Dungeon" imprint: link |

I don't normally plug White Dwarf, but you may wish to check out issue 343. Their is an article on Mordor terrain with craft tips for "Twisted Trees" and "Rocky Outcrops" equally suitable for horror. |

Wait for Halloween in the fall and look for 'twisted wire' trees of various shapes and sizes. Sort of like this: link link I've seen them in Michael's, Target, JoAnne's, and other places. I've seen some impressive, larger ones, that have scary faces and such modeled into the twisted wire. (sort of like a haunted tree.) |

If you don't mind making your own, here's a Senji Studio's article about making Chaos trees using action figures. senjistudios.com/?p=2001 @religon: That Mr. Dandy Oak Lord is a nice model. Will look through his offerings in depth later. |

Halloween stuff will be coming out soon, so you should be able to find various trees and things of use. |

Ironwind (Ral Partha) actually has a couple "demon" trees in their line. At least one is not on the website, but is on the CD catalog they sometimes give away. |

I've got the Architects of War trees. Very good, look great. Lemax has some Halloween stuff that I also use. Trees are about half way down the page. It is usually a bit bigger than 28mm, so don't get any tree above medium size. link |

Oh, forgot to mention Raging Heroes tree warriors: link And Privateer Press: link Mind, with PP you'd be paying $31.00 USD USD for a single tree, unless you have a use for the mage/druid figure! |

There were a coupleof different D&D Collectible prepaint treants in different sizes that would work as well. |

Privateer Press do have a slightly cheaper option than the one mentioned above. In the same range (Hordes – Circle faction) there's the Gallows Grove pack in the solos category. ~$25 for two trees, though given the number of skulls/ribcages/etc. they're adorned with might be too over the top even if the price isn't objectionable. |
