I'd like you all to know that my copy of the second volume of army lists for Hail Caesar arrived today, covering 'late antiquity to early medieval' and it is very shiny and strokable.

The Crusader list is substantially different from what we'd guessed locally. Will have to try it out ASAP and compare it to the Impetus game we ran at Wappinshaw: link – midway down posting.

Woot! Mine just got here! Looks quite tasty from a cursory once over.

Received mine downunder in very quick time – they are good and might encourage me to get those Sasanids and Byzantines onto the field. Project for 2013.

Have to say I am doubtful about all those cataphract Sassanids and Thematic/TagmaticByzantines. Would have liked to see an allowance for blunt wedge (s) of later Byzantine klibanophoroi. Early Byzantine heavy cavalry should have kontos and/or bow not spear. Good thing about Hail Caesar is that you can alter the lists and no-one will mind as long as not too much cheese enters the equation.
